Chapter 6
For the rest of the evening, he cranked up the lovey dovey act with Caroline.
Feeding her food, wrapping his arm around her waist, whispering in her ear.
But every few minutes, his eyes would drift toward Aaliyah without him realizing it.
And she remained completely unmoved.
After the party ended, Aaliyah went to the restroom to touch up her makeup.
As soon as she stepped out, Caroline cornered her in the hallway.
“Did you see that?” Caroline waved her phone, showing a photo she’d just taken of her and Claude’s passionate kiss. “Claude only wants me. Be smart and get that divorce finalized. And don’t even think about crawling back to him like some pathetic mess again.”
Aaliyah didn’t even bother looking at her and turned to leave.
Caroline was pissed seeing Aaliyah act so indifferent-all her carefully planned drama was like punching cotton.
She gritted her teeth and raised her hand to slap Aaliyah, but suddenly heard familiar footsteps in the hallway.
Her expression changed instantly, and she quickly switched tactics-
“Slap! Slap!”
The sharp sound of slaps echoed in the restroom as Caroline viciously hit herself twice, her pale cheeks immediately swelling red.
The next second, the restroom door was violently pushed open.
“Claude!” Caroline burst into tears, stumbling into Claude’s arms. “Aaliyah… she hit me…”
She sobbed brokenly, “Just because of that truth or dare game…”
Claude held Caroline, but his eyes were locked on Aaliyah.
He’d been confused all night about why Aaliyah seemed so unaffected by his intimacy with Caroline, but now he finally understood-
She was quietly seething with jealousy.
The thought made his heart race with twisted satisfaction, but his face only got harder.
“It was just a game. Was it really worth getting this jealous over?” Claude said coldly. “Besides, we’re in the process of divorcing. Who I’m with and what I do has nothing to do with you.”
He stared at Aaliyah’s pale face, speaking each word deliberately: “Aaliyah, hitting Caroline isn’t the way. You want me back? Then show me you mean it.”
“I didn’t hit her.” She said calmly. “She did it to herself-”
“Enough!” Claude cut her off. “If you’re that into your games, go ahead and spend the night here thinking it through.”
“BANG!”
The door slammed shut, followed by the clear sound of a lock turning.
Aaliyah pounded on the locked door until her palms were red and numb.
After what felt like forever, the lock finally clicked open.
She breathed a sigh of relief and was about to leave when three thugs blocked her in the hallway corner.
The blonde leader grabbed her hair roughly, snarling: “You’re Aaliyah Rhodes?”
“I’m not…” Aaliyah sensed trouble and tried to run, but immediately took a heavy punch to the stomach.

The pain made her double over instantly, but another guy yanked her up by her hair.
Slap The blow made her ears ring and blood trickle from the corner of her mouth.
“Pretty little thing, ain’t ya? Too bad you’re such a shameless bitch.” The blonde grabbed her chin, his other hand delivering casual slaps to her face. “Time for some street education, princess!”
Fists and boots rained down on her like hail.
Aaliyah curled up on the ground, instinctively protecting her head.
A sharp “crack” came from her ribs, and she nearly blacked out from the pain, but she bit her lip hard to keep from crying out.
“Alright, that’s enough. Don’t kill her.” One of the thugs finally spoke up. “Miss Ellis said just teach her a lesson.”
The footsteps gradually faded away. Aaliyah lay collapsed on the cold floor, every part of her body screaming in pain.
She tried to move her fingers, but even that simple action made her break out in cold sweat.
From the end of the hallway came Caroline’s triumphant laughter: “Let’s see if she still acts all high and mighty now.”
Aaliyah struggled to roll over, staring up at the harsh fluorescent lights on the ceiling.
A drop of blood slid down from her temple, but she suddenly smiled.
Claude, is this what you wanted?
You love me, but you want to see me suffer, see me broken, see me tortured until I’m begging for death?
Congratulations. You win.
But this is the last time.
