Camila’s face was pale with terror. “You gave me anesthesia?”
Patricia smiled faintly. “Oh, don’t give me too much credit. It was the anesthetic the doctors used during your surgery to take Agnes’s kidney.”
Everything had happened while Camila was unconscious, so she had no idea of it.
Patricia snorted. “I seriously can’t get why Mr. Campbell is into someone like you. Other than that pretty face, you’re pretty useless.
“He got his legs crushed by rocks trying to save you. And to make sure your kidney transplant with Agnes went smoothly, he sat outside the operating room for a whole day, in pain from his broken legs.
“He didn’t let them take him into surgery until your operation was a success and you were safely in the recovery room.”
Camila felt like her heart was being torn apart. “Is he okay?” she asked, her voice trembling.
“How should I know? A guy with no taste is better off dead,” Patricia sneered, her face twisted with madness.
Just then, the elevator chimed softly, breaking the tense silence. As the doors slid open, the dim, eerie glow of the parking garage came into view.
Patricia pushed Camila out of the elevator. Camila struggled desperately, her voice trembling with panic. “Where are you taking me? Let me go. I need to see Giovani.”
Enraged by Camila’s resistance, Patricia raised her hand and delivered a vicious slap across her face. Instantly, blood trickled from the corner of Camila’s
mouth.
“Stop wasting your energy, you wretch. Now that you’re in my hands, you’ll never escape,” Patricia spat, grabbing a fistful of Camila’s hair and yanking her head upward.
Her voice was venomous as she continued, “That bastard Giovani! He forced me to eat cake every single day six months ago.
“I gained so much weight, and no matter how hard I tried to lose it, I couldn’t. I even ended up with diabetes. He ruined me, so now I’ll let him feel the pain of losing the woman he loved.”
Patricia’s laughter turned maniacal. “And Lucy the wretch–she cares about you so much, doesn’t she? Just imagine how devastated she’ll be when she finds out you’re missing. The thought of her running around in despair brings me so much joy.”
With that, she pushed Camila toward a car and yanked the door open.
The moment Camila saw who was inside, her hatred flared like a raging fire. She gritted her teeth and snapped, “Owen, was this all part of your and
Patricia’s plan?”
Owen met her glare and froze for a second. But he quickly pulled himself together and pasted on a fake smile.
He leaned in slightly, reaching out to touch her face. Camila turned her head sharply, her disgust evident.
Owen’s smile remained. “Camila, we’re supposed to be together. A guy like Giovani, with all his money, would never really care about you. He’s just playing games with your feelings.”
He paused, his tone softening as though he were baring his heart. “Trust me, Camila. If you choose me, I promise I’ll make you happy.”
Camila sneered, “Owen, you’re so shameless.”
Patricia was tired of the back–and–forth. She grabbed Camila roughly and shoyed her into the car.
The lingering effects of the anesthesia left Camila too weak to resist. All she could do was scream, “Help! Someone’s trying to kidnap-”

Chapter 187
Before she could finish, Owen clamped a handkerchief over her mouth and nose.
A sickly sweet scent filled Camila’s senses, dragging her back to that nightmare at the Neelum City train station, when Michael had subdued her the same
way.
Her eyes widened in panic, but her strength ebbed away as the scent clouded her mind. Darkness crept in, swallowing her consciousness whole.
The hospital doors to the operating room finally swung
26 ciovani was wheeled out.
The doctor removed his mask and addressed Sean, who had been standing outside the operating room the entire time. “The surgery on his leg was a success. He just needs to rest properly, and under no circumstances should he get out of bed for the next month.”
Sean nodded and pushed Giovani into his hospital root
Time dragged on, and finally, Giovani woke up. The second he opened his eyes, he asked, “How’s Camila?”
“She’s fine, Mr. Campbell,” Sean reassured him. “Her kidney transplant went perfectly. Since it was originally her kidney, there won’t be any rejection issues. With proper care, she’ll recover quickly–probably even faster than your leg.”
A faint smile appeared on Giovani’s pale face. “That’s
good. With the transplant, Camila’s health will finally improve.”
“If she gets healthier, she won’t feel like she’s holding me back anymore. Maybe then, she won’t think about leaving me,‘ he thought. ‘But her legs and hearing still needed treatment. No matter the cost, I’ll find the world’s best doctors to heal her.’
After a pause, he asked, “What about Agnes?”
Sean let out a cold laugh, his tone laced with disdain. “She didn’t make it.”
Giovani was momentarily stunned. “She died from just the transplant?”
Sean shook his head. Agnes’s death wasn’t that simple. During the landslide, she had been crushed by falling rocks, her lower body pinned beneath a massive boulder. Perhaps because of the intense pain, she miraculously regained a bit of her senses in her madness.
Driven by a desperate will to live, she had begged Sean for help. “Please, save me. I don’t want to die.”
But at that moment, Sean’s only concern was rescuing Camila and Giovani. He had no intention of sparing a thought for Agnes.
Agnes had clawed
at the ground in a frenzy, her nails tearing off as she clawed desperately, leaving her hands a bloody mess.
Even so, she couldn’t free herself from the boulder. Trapped in despair, her life slipped away. Later, she and Camila were wheeled into the operating room. Already clinging to her last breath, Agnes died on the operating table after her kidney was removed.
Agnes deserves it,’ Giovani thought, his expression indifferent after hearing the whole story. “You don’t need to stay here with me. Go check on Camila.”
Sean nodded and headed to Camila’s room. But when he arrived, he was met with an empty room. His mind went blank instantly.
‘Camila is too weak to even move after the surgery. How could she have disappeared?‘ Sean thought, confused. Without wasting a moment, he called for
the doctors.
When the doctors saw the empty room, they panicked as well. They quickly pulled up the surveillance footage, which showed Camila being wheeled away by a plump woman dressed as a nurse.
Meanwhile, Camila slowly woke up, her body wracked with unbearable pain. The anesthesia had worn off, and a sharp, stabbing sensation radiated from her kidney. Cold sweat broke out all over her.

She opened her eyes, but all she could see was darkness. ‘Is it already night?‘ she thought.
Suddenly, there was a loud swish as a heavy black cloth was ripped away.
Patricia stood there, a smug, mocking smile on her face. “Well, Camila, how does it feel to be in a dog cage?”
She paced around Camila and laughed. “Tsk. Who would’ve thought the fiancée of Mr. Campbell would end up like this?”
