Chapter 18: The Blood Moon Pack Vanished Within Few Hours
Avery
“Nothing,” I said softly, eyes fixed on the floor. ‘I just… I thought you were leaving.”
His crimson eyes bore into me with an intensity that made me want to hide. Those eyes–they seemed to see right through me, past alf

This is my room too, I just want a break too‘ he said, his deep voice rumbling through the space between us. “But if my presence while you shower makes you uncomfortable, I can leave.”
I blinked in surprise. An Alpha–the Alpha King, no less–offering to accommodate my comfort? This was… new. But despite his words, his eyes held something possessive, something that suggested he didn’t actually want to go anywhere. The contradiction left me confused.
“No, it’s fine, I lied, not wanting to cause trouble. The last thing I needed was to annoy him right from the start. I’d learned the hard way what happened when you annoyed an Alpha.
I hesitated as I walked toward the bathroom, wondering what other surprises awaited me in this strange new pack. “Welcome home, my mistress,” the mads had said. Was this really home now? Would Dominic truly be different from Trevor?
Dominic
I didn’t want to leave–not even for a moment. The way she stood there, looking so lost and vulnerable in my bedroom, awakened every protective instinct I possessed. I worried she might collapse from exhaustion if left alone in my bathroom.
Seeing her frozen at the doorway, I quickly changed the subject. “I’ll have some food sent up. What would you like to eat?”
The question seemed to startle her, as if no one had ever asked about her preferences before. “Anything is fine,” she said quietly. “I’m not picky.”
Something in the way she said it told me she had learned not to be picky through painful lessons. Everything about her–the way she spoke, how she avoided eye contact, her hunched posture–screamed of trauma. Each small gesture revealed the depth of what she’d endured, and it made my chest ache with a fury I could barely contain.
“Take your time with your shower,” I said, walking toward the door. “I’ll be back with food in about thirty minutes. Is that enough time?”
She nodded, still awkwardly standing in the middle of the room.
I paused at the doorway and turned back. “Avery?”
She lifted her head, meeting my eyes for a brief moment.
“You’re safe here,” I said firmly. “I promise.”
Something flickered across her face–doubt, hope, fear, I couldn’t quite tell. But she gave another small nod before turning toward the bathroom.
I closed the door behind me and leaned against it for a moment. Luca’s rage still burned within me, demanding vengeance, demanding we reclaim what was ours. But I pushed him back.
She needs time, I told him firmly. She’s been through/hell. We can’t just charge in and expect her to trust us.
They hurt her, Luca growled. They need to pay.
They will, I promised him. But right now, she needs to heal.
I pushed away from the door and headed toward the kitchen. Food first. Then we’d figure out how to deal with Trevor, Kevin, and the rest of those Blood
Moon bastards.
Most importantly, we needed to understand why Avery wasn’t healing like a normal wolf. From what Rachel had said, I could pretty much confirm that her

lack of wolf abilities was due to kome kind of inhibitor shed been injected with. But where did the indiator come from? Ever
too strange.
I figured my next step would be to question the witches. Damn it, I really hated dealing with those temperamentad witches!
I wasn’t even sure if someone was manipulating this whole situation behind the scenes. They knew I had no mate, they knew I would find a way to Moon. Most disturbing of all, Trevor and Kevin might just be pawns in someone else’s game.
How deep did their secrets go?
The mind link from Ethan interrupted my thoughts, his panic bleeding through our connection: “Dominic! Somethings wrong! The Blood Moon Park has vanished!”
I froze mid–step. What do you mean “vanished“?
I mean GONE, Ethan’s voice was tight with tension. We sent scouts to investigate after the contract signing. The entire territory is empty–no wolves, on scent trails, nothing. It’s like they never existed,
A cold feeling settled in my gut. That’s impossible. An entire pack can’t just disappear.
Well, this pack did, Ethan replied. And there’s more. We found strange markings around the territory border–symbols I’ve never seen before.
Witch magic, I growled, pieces starting to click together. They’re covering their tracks.
What do we do? Ethan asked.
I glanced back toward my bedroom door, thinking of the broken girl inside. Double the guards around our territory. No one enters or leaves without my direct permission. And Ethan–find me a witch. Now.
You think they’re coming for her?
The protective growl that escaped my throat wasn’t entirely human. I don’t know. But I’m not taking any chances.
I ended the mind link and stood there, my mind racing. An entire pack disappearing within few hours wasn’t just unusual–it was unprecedented. What game was Trevor playing?
And more importantly, what did this mean for Avery? Things became more interesting…
