Chapter 44
My fingers paused slightly.
“He’s gone crazy, Ela. May
you should turn back and find somewhere to hide.”
“Mm. let me think.”
I gently pressed my temple with my hand.
After hanging up, I looked out the window, my mood suddenly pulled into the damp, cold autumn rainy night, melancholy and powerless
The car fell silent for a moment. The others had obviously heard my conversation with Alice.
Garrett Wylder said nothing.
Jack, feeling sympathetic, comforted: “Don’t be afraid. The Alpha has a private jet, the car can drive directly onto it. That person can’t trace you at all, let alone find you.”
My face immediately brightened, “That’s wonderful.”
How had I not thought of that? Now I was traveling with the crown prince!
Rowan couldn’t find me at the airport, nor could he find my boarding information. He thought I had temporarily changed my mind and left the airport, not knowing that I had already boarded Garrett Wylder’s private jet.
The cabin was spacious and comfortable, with a pleasant temperature and clean fragrance in the air.
The moment of weightlessness during takeoff felt like icy hands suddenly gripping my heart.
I leaned against the window, looking at the terminal building on the ground, imagining Rowan at this moment–frantic and furious, veins bulging, looking ready to kill… I couldn’t help but smile, then felt somewhat lost in thought.
After the plane leveled off, the flight attendant brought breakfast.
I had little appetite, only ate a bit randomly, then stared blankly at the cloud layers outside the window.
“If you’re going to keep this anxious and worried appearance, I think you don’t need to bother with employment procedures.”
A cool, indifferent voice came from diagonally across the aisle.
I suddenly snapped back to attention, turned my head, met Garrett Wylder’s gaze, and my face immediately burned.
He was sharp as a sword, cutting me down from my floating state and throwing me into a frying pan, leaving me thoroughly embarrassed with
nowhere to hide.
“Sorry, I won’t be like this again.”
I quickly lowered my head.
“I hope so.”
He coolly dropped those two words and withdrew his gaze.
I was embarrassed to the extreme.
Clay, sitting across from me, was also somewhat awkward. He really didn’t understand why the Alpha was suddenly displeased–I had only been a bit distracted, which wasn’t that serious
After all, I had just experienced a disaster in my life. Immediately bouncing back would be a miracle; not being distracted would be strange.
