Chapter 48
You look hot. Maybe you need a bottle of water?”
He looked at me with his deep eyes and said very politely.
“Ahem…!” I almost choked on my water.
Then I waved my hands frantically to indicate that I didn’t need it.
He raised his eyebrows, smiled charmingly, and said nothing more.
The car arrived at the marina.
The driver stayed with the car while Clay and I accompanied Garrett Wylder aboard the yacht.
It was a three–story luxury yacht, pure white throughout, with smooth and elegant contour lines.
The first floor was a business reception area, the second floor was an entertainment area with a pool, the third floor had guest rooms, and the very top was an open–air rest area with excellent yet private views, furnished with a set of round large sofas.
President Benjamin came out personally to greet us.
He smiled broadly while patting Garrett Wylder’s arm, his wrinkled face beaming with enthusiasm that was almost eerily warm.
Clay and I didn’t go inside, instead waiting on the deck. Through the large floor–to–ceiling glass windows, we could clearly see the scene inside.
There were more than ten people inside, all wealthy celebrities from local Singapore.
Among them, a petite girl with wheat–colored skin was particularly eye–catching. She had a bright smile and delicate features, like a vibrant sunflower radiating energy.

“This is my granddaughter, Huang Weizhen. Her mother is Chinese, you can also call her Olivia. She’s twenty–one and just returned from studying art
in America.”
Benjamin introduced her proudly.
Clay and I exchanged glances, silently sharing our thoughts: Oh ho, so this included a blind date arrangement?
Garrett Wylder maintained perfect gentlemanly politeness, nodding and making small talk.
Meanwhile, Olivia stared at him intently throughout, the petite girl of about 5’2” looking up at the nearly 6’3” Garrett Wylder with what seemed like
stars in her eyes.
“If we’d known Benjamin had this ulterior motive, Alpha never would have come.”
Clay sighed helplessly.
“Benjamin couldn’t exactly say outright–I’m inviting you to introduce my granddaughter to you.“”
I crossed my arms with a slight smile, “Besides, what if they hit it off? Wouldn’t that make for a perfect match?”
“This just isn’t Alpha’s type.”
“How do you know?”
“I naturally-”

city was about to say something when he ruddenly glanced toward the marina, his words cutting of abruptly as heute de ans
Who?
I looked confused and followed his gaze.
I saw a woman with a collarbone–length bob walking slowly toward us.
She had a slender figure and elegant neck, wearing a black satin slip dress and carrying a small black handbag. Her entire presence was as coldly beautiful as a black swan.
“Amelia, the general manager of the branch here.”
Clay quickly went to meet her, “That’s Amelia.”
I’d seen her profile, but hadn’t expected the real person to be so stunning, with an aura so cool it seemed to glow.
“Amelia.”
Clay intercepted her at the stairs.
“Clay.”
She responded coolly, her gaze briefly sweeping over me.
As she prepared to walk around Clay and continue up, her eyes fell on me again, growing several degrees colder: “And this is?”
I extended my hand graciously: “Hello Amelia, I’m Elara, Alpha’s secretary.”
Her eyes darkened, and she smiled lightly, but that smile carried a hint of sadness: “Secretary, heh.”
Me: “…”
She didn’t shake hands, seeming to emanate cold air as she pushed past us and entered the cabin.
Watching her retreating figure, I asked Clay somewhat puzzled: “Does she have something against me?”
Clay sighed: “She and Alpha… had some romantic entanglement. The love–hate kind.”
“Ah, I understand.”
I got it immediately and felt relieved.
No wonder Garrett Wylder chose Singapore as the first stop–it was about unfinished feelings.
Clay and I returned to the deck.
By now, the yacht had set sail.
In the cabin, Garrett Wylder handled the guests with ease, polite and considerate, occasionally smiling lightly, though showing no emotional fluctuation.
Benjamin kept creating opportunities for his granddaughter, and Olivia was bold enough, constantly chatting up Garrett Wylder, practically writing “I like you” on her face.
Garrett Wylder maintained calm, distant politeness–not cold but certainly not warm.
Amelia stood beside him, appearing composed and appropriate, yet one could sense she was barely holding it together.
Sigh…
Kuddenly felt heartache.
Ar a woman, I understood that bitter, restrained smile all too well.
I watched with great interest from the side, my gaze switching back and forth between the three of them.
Suddenly
Garrett Wylder glanced in
my direction.
I was so startled I almost hid behind the railing.
Too late to hide–he’d already seen my expression of enjoying the drama.
Those deep eyes narrowed, looking like he… had completely seen through what I was thinking.
I guiltily turned to Clay: “Clay, can I go walk around up front?”
