Chapter 50
I don’t know how long I sat on the deck until Clay called asking me to come to the second floor cabin.
1 got up and headed there.
The second floor was the entertainment area, with a pool, KTV, audiovisual room, methods were truly varied.
Clay told me they were playing Texas Hold’em in the card room.
I smiled. Sure enough, the card table was these people’s real battlefield.

I found a place to sit with him, grabbed some desserts, and waited to be summoned.
About an hour passed.
Garrett Wylder called: “Come in for a moment.”
Clay and I immediately rushed over.
The card room was filled with cigar smoke. Around the oval card table sat a circle of men, some triumphant, others dejected.
Chips were piled like small mountains, a sexy female dealer wore a barely–there dress, servers rotated bringing red wine, champagne, and cigars–a scene of decadent luxury.
Garrett Wylder wasn’t smoking, only had a glass of champagne beside him, looking refreshingly out of place in this crowd.
From the number of chips, he seemed to be winning quite a bit.
Amelia beside him looked thoroughly drunk, supporting her head with one hand, expression dazed.
“Help Amelia out, she’s had too much to drink.”
Garrett Wylder’s tone was calm and unruffled.
Clay and I stepped forward to help support her.
“I’m fine!”
Amelia suddenly pushed us away with surprising strength.
We tried several times but she kept shaking us off.
“Amelia…”
Clay looked helpless. I thought since I was a woman, physical contact wouldn’t matter, so I reached toward her waist, trying to help her stand-
“Where are you touching me!”
Like we’d hit a nerve, she violently pushed me away. Fortunately Clay caught her from behind.
I was also startled, my body stiffening.
Everyone at the card table looked over.
Garrett Wylder’s face instantly turned cold. He stood up and helped Amelia up himself.
“Cover for me for a while.”
