Chapter 23
Asher’s POV
My parents went to the human’s world after they retired. They
planned to go for a few months. But they were now back earlier
than expected. It must because the elders had said something to
them.
I went to the front door to greet them. Just as I expected, the first
thing that my mother said to me after getting off the car as about
my Luna.
“They said that you abandoned your wife for another woman?
And you wouldn’t listen to anyone’s advice. It that true?” she
questioned me, sounding disappointed.
“That’s what they said?” I sneered.
The elders only told my parents half of the truth, just enough to
trick them back. But I knew that my parents were reasonable
people. They would understand if I gave them the full picture.
So I went on and told them everything. Their expressions become
more and more shocked.
“Violet’s parents did this to her?” my mother gasped as soon as I
finished, “I can’t believe this…to force one daughter to give up on
her mate just to save another daughter. What kind of parents
does that?”
“Extremely biased parents, I guess.” I shrugged, “So you are not
mad at Violet or anything?”
“Of course not. The elders didn’t tell us that you are leaving Kylie
for Violet, nor did we know the whole story. Now that we know,
I just feel so sorry for Violet. Poor thing, she’s been through too
much,” my mother shook her head with a sigh.
My mother adored Violet, ever since she was a little kid.
Our family was very close to the Beta’s family. Growing up when
everyone else favored the elegant and ladylike Kylie, my mother
preferred Violet.
When the twin sister had their 18(th) birthday and none of them
turned out to be my mate, my mother was very disappointed.
Then she supported me to marry Kylie because she didn’t want
Kylie to keep suffering from the loss of her mate.
But my mother was kept in the dark, just like I did.
“It might be too late to say this, but I sensed that something was
going on with Violet 5 years ago. She always locked herself in the
room and never came out. We should have never let her move
away, then maybe we can discover the truth sooner.”
I snorted, “She set her mind to keep us in the dark. There was
nothing we could do.”
That came out more sarcastic and self–pity than I meant to be.
But deep down I was still angry at Violet. She had her chance of
telling me the truth. But she gave up on that.
My mother saw right through me. She patted on my shoulder,
saying in a gentle voice, “Don’t be too harsh on her son. Her
family didn’t give her much of a choice. She was too little when
this happened. Kids at that age are easily manipulated by their
parents.”
I let out a long sigh and nodded.
I must get rid of these dark feelings of mine if I wanted to be with
Violet. My mother was right. Violet was just as the victim here.
My father was listening to us the whole time. He waited for us to
finish before asking me, “I heard that there were some attacks led
by the rogues recently. Have you told your uncle about this?”
“I just asked for a meeting with him. I haven’t gone into the
details yet,” I answered. “The things that happened recently…they
are too strange and creepy that I want you guys to know first.”
“What things?” my father demanded immediately.
He was worried. He was a strong and capable Alpha. Nothing had
happened to Silver Moon Pack under his reign. He most certainly
didn’t want anything to happen now that he had passed the
throne to me.
So I told them about the weird eyes watching us in the forest.
And the note left on Violet’s mirror.
And most importantly, I told them that the mysterious figure had
eyes that resembled me a lot.
“Violet was freaked out. That person is most likely a rogue. But
why do we have the same eyes?”
My parents pondered in silence.
After a long while, my father said, “You need to tell your uncle
about this.”
“Oh, OK then.”
I didn’t know why my father insisted on including my uncle so
much. They had the weirdest relationship. They rarely talked.
But when someone important happened, my father would
always want to let my uncle know first.
“Maybe it has something to do with the royal family,” my mom
said lowly. “The dark reddish eyes… It points to royal blood.”
“Whoever it is, I will stop him.” I said coldly.
I had Violet now, a mate to protect. I wouldn’t let anything
happen to her. Even if my enemy had royal blood, I could still
defeat him.
I sent my parents to their room and let them rest. Then I went
back to my office to follow up on the investigation on the rogues.
When I walked into the door, I found the seer already in the
room waiting for me.
“Seer. To what do I owe the pleasure?” I nodded at her.
This woman possessed power and ability that exceeded our
imagination. I always respected her
“I was here for Miss Violet. How is she recently?” the seer asked.
“Better now. But I can tell that she is still suffering from her pain.
And she is supposed to be in a fight in 2 weeks but she still doesn’t
have her wolf.”
“Exactly,” the seer nodded. “A werewolf can’t go too long without
their wolves. It was unnatural. She is a strong woman and has
been surprising her pain for a very long time. But that won’t last
for very long I am afraid.”
I held my breath inv
“What do you mean?! That Violet is now in life danger?” I asked urgently.
“Precisely.”
“Then what do we do now? How can I help her? I can’t just let her die like that. There must be a way to save her!”
“You must drive Violet’s wolf out with true love,” the seer sang.
I stared at her unblinkingly for a long time, trying to grasp upon what she meant by that.
“Violet and I are already in love. But her wolf still hasn’t come back. There must be something wrong with this approach,” I said
to her dryly
“It is the right approach. But your love isn’t pure,” the seer said. “What you have now is obsession to your mate. Only true love and forgiveness will bring her wolf back.”
