chapter 32
Violet’s POV
It had been a week since Asher announced me as his mate. Everyone was slowly adapting to the new life, including me. The fight with Kylie prompted me to train harder. I hadn’t missed a single day in the training court.
Yet weirdly, Kylie withdrew her challenge soon after. And the elders were also fine with that. It really baffled me because Kylie didn’t look someone who was afraid to lose. She looked really confident when she challenged me to that fight. So why
would she chicken out now?
I tried to find an answer by asking people around me. But
nobody knew. Or they just would tell me the reason. Either
way, it was another burden off my shoulder. My life had finally
returned to peace.
When I was not in the training court, I usually spent time with
Mia. She was like my own daughter. Whenever I looked at her, I
was reminded of my best friend Elena. They were both brave,
easy–going, and always remained a positive attitude in life.
Having Mia by my side helped ease some of the pain of losing
Elena.
Chapter
Mia had moved into Asher’s house with me. She would still ask
about her parent from time to time. But she no longer cried that
hard, nor locked herself in the room all day long. She was used
to living with us now, slowly recovering from the death of her
parent. The three of us had started a new family.
My days followed a steady routine now. It was the peaceful, uneventful kind of life that I had been dreaming for in years.
Asher had stopped talking about my betrayal and I could tell he
was slowly convincing himself to forgive me. I didn’t want to
rush him. Because we had a lifetime ahead of us.
It was the weekend and I took Mia to the packhouse after breakfast. She had been badgering me into taking her to the training court and seeing me train. Although the fight with Kylie was off, my brothers and I all agreed that it was a good idea to keep up with the training. A lot of the members still hadn’t accepted me. Who knew when the next challenge would
come at my way? It was better to stay prepared.
Coming into the training court, I set Mia down on the stands
and said to her, “You stay here sweetheart. There’re snacks in this back. Remember whatever happens in the wrestling ring later, it is perfect natural.”
Mis rounded her eyes, “Why do you say that? What is going to happen?”
“Your uncles are going to fight me in the wrestling ring to help
me become a better warrior. Things might get serious. But remember, they are only here to help me. So don’t panic when you see them put me on my back.”
My brothers took this training very seriously, and so did I. They
never held back against me. So I figured maybe it was a good
idea to give Mia a heads up incase the training became less child- friendly later.
I took off my jacket and climbed up to wrestling ring. It was my one–on–one day with Philip. He was already warmed up. Jayden and Michael were by the side watching.
“Ready for this, sis?” Philip grinned and got into fighting
position.
“Will it be a waste of time to tell you to go easy on me?”
“You know the answer!” he laughed, charging at me.
I had been training hard lately, but the gap between me and my
brothers was still too big. They all said I was improving, but
clearly, I was still not improving fast enough to be able to defeat
Philip. It only took him a couple of minutes to slam me hard to
the ground.
“Ouch!” I cried, wincing from the pain.
“You dropped your arms and left your upper body wide open. It almost seemed like you wanted Philip to go for your upper
part,” Michael scoffed.
“Rookie’s mistake,” Jayden commented.
I groaned, “In case you have all forgotten…I am a rookie.”
“You opponent won’t go easy on you just because you are a rookie.” Philip lent me a hand pulling me up, “Let’s take a quick 5 and start again.”
We all jumped off the wrestling ring and went to sit on the bench. I found Mia up high on the stands and gave her a reassuring thumb up.
Michael was still laughing at the mistakes I made in the wrestling ring. But it didn’t piss me off. They were harsh with me during the training, yet this whole thing really brought us close together. I enjoyed every second that we spent together.
While we were all getting hydrated, I found the chance to ask
them, “What’s up with Kylie lately?”
I hadn’t seen her around. Rumors were going wild in our pack.
Some people said that she had become really sick and that’s why
she couldn’t go through with the challenge; some said that she
was heartbroken when I stole her husband and had moved

away from home.
I found neither of those stories convincing. My gut told me that there was something bigger going on and only my brothers knew the answer.
The three of them exchanged a brief look. And by that I could be sure that they were indeed hiding something.
“What is it?” I pursued.
“Don’t worry about it. You just focus on your training,” Jayden said evasively.
“Her challenge is the very reason that got me into this training in the first place. I can’t know where she is? We are still twins at the end of the day.”
There was a strange look on all their faces. Philip cleared his throat and said, “Why don’t you go ask her yourself?”
“I can’t get in touch with her. You know that. Come on what’s really going on?” Their reaction only made me more curious.
They remained in silence. That was when the training court’s door opened up and Kylie walked in.
“Surprise.” she raised her chin, grinningly defiant.
chapter 32
It was truly a surprise. We were just talking about her and she
showed up the very next second.
My twin brothers looked at her with sullen faces, obviously not
happy to see her here. Jayden stood up, his voice low and
serous, “You shouldn’t come here.”
Kylie snorted, “This facility is open to all the members.”
“You should go,” Philip snapped, his tone harsh.
Kylie giggled. Then she fixed her gaze upon me, “Wondering
why they all want me gone?”
“Don’t do this!” Michael cried, breathing fast.
“Because they are afraid of me telling you the truth if I stay!”
Kylie laughed.
“What truth?” I demanded. Foreboding shivers ran over me.
She put a hand on her belly, a triumphant smile tugged at her
lips.
“I’m pregnant. Guess who is the father?”
