Chapter 53
Violet’s POV
Isaac’s words hit me like a punch to the gut.
I had been prepared for his usual arrogance, his constant push
for power, but this… This was something else.
I turned to stare at him, trying to find proofs that he was lying.
But I didn’t find anything.
“You made it up. You were just saying it to provoke me,” I
gritted.
Isaac only sneered, his eyes dark with some sort of malicious
satisfaction.
“You don’t believe me? Fine. Go and ask your family. They will
tell you if I was lying,” he said, his voice cold, dripping with a
venom that left me speechless. He didn’t say anything more,
just stood there, watching me, waiting for me to fall apart.
I froze on my feet. His words echoed in my head, rattling
around like a swarm of bees, each one buzzing louder than the
last.
No. Impossible. I was definitely mother’s daughter. Why would
I ever doubt that? But then…I remembered how she treated me
over the years. She had always been distant and cold. And she
didn’t hesitate a second when she decided to sacrifice me to
save Kylie. If we were both her true daughters, why would she
favor Kylie that much?
“If she’s not my mother, who is?!” I cried, my voice trembling.
“Someone other than the former Beta’s mate, obviously. You
can’t be born from a stone.”
“I…I have to go…” I took a step back, breathing roughly. “I need
to…”
He laughed, “Yes. Go. You can thank me later for giving you the
truth”
I could feel the cold sweat forming on the back of my neck as I
dashed out of the room, my thoughts racing.
I had to know more, had to understand what was going on. But
where could I start? Where would I even begin? I couldn’t face
my mother just yet. The only people who might know were my
brothers.
When I found them and told them everything that Isaac said,
they looked just as stunned as I felt. The shock was written all
over their faces, the disbelief clear in their eyes.
Philip was the first to speak, his voice sharp and defensive.
“Isaac’s full of shit!” he spat, shaking his head in frustration.
“Don’t listen to him. He’s just trying to get inside your head.”
“But what if there’s some truth to it?” Jayden’s voice was quiet,
the doubt creeping in despite his best efforts to fight it. “Isaac’s
always had a way of getting under our skin. Why mention our
mother specifically? Unless…Unless he really knows
something.”
I shook my head, trying to hold back the tears that threatened
to spill.
“No,” I said firmly, though the words felt hollow. “I don’t believe
- it. This doesn’t make sense.”
But Isaac’s words haunted me, lingering in the back of my
mind. Could it be true? Could my mother have been hiding
something all this time? I had always felt like the outsider in my
own family, the one who didn’t quite fit in. But this? This felt
like a betrayal on a whole new level.

“Ask our father! He must know something!!” Philip cried.
Without another word, we headed for my parents‘ house. I didn’t know what I expected to find, but I knew I couldn’t let this go unanswered. If Isaac was right, if there was some terrible secret my family had been hiding, then we needed to
face it head–on.
As we approached the house, Philip’s temper flared. He was furious–furious that Isaac had even suggested such a thing,
furious that our family had kept this from us. And I could see
the fire in his eyes as he strode toward the door.
“Philip! Calm down!” I called out, trying to stop him. “Let’s talk
to father nicely…PHILIP!!”
But he didn’t listen.
Before I could reach him, Philip had already pushed through
the door, storming inside.
We found our father in the living room. With a growl, Philip
lunged toward him, grabbing him by the collar and lifting him
out of his chair.
Chapter 53
“Tell me!” Philip shouted, his voice breaking with rage. “Who is
she? Who the fuck is our mother?!!”
Our father’s face twisted in shock, his hands fumbling at Philip‘
s grip. “Put me down,” he demanded weakly.
But Philip didn’t let go. His eyes were burning with fury, his
teeth bared like an animal on the edge of a fight. “I’m done
being lied to! Tell me what’s going on, now!”
I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as I watched my
brother shake our father, asking for answers. Jayden moved
toward them, trying to pull Philip back, but even he seemed
unsure of how to handle the situation.
The door swung open the next second. Kylie stepped inside
with our mother on her heels…Wait. No. That woman may not
be our mother at all.
“What the hell is going on here? Philip are you crazy?!” Kylie
cried. She sounded worried, but I could hear the underlying
tone of amusement in her voice. She was enjoying this. She
always did, always got a kick out of watching us fight.
“Philip, let him go,” I said, my voice strained as I stepped forward. “This isn’t helping anything.”
But Philip wasn’t listening. His rage had overtaken him, and he
wasn’t about to back down.
“You owe us the truth,” he growled. “We deserve to know what‘
s been going on all these years. Who is our mother, really? Tell
me!”
“I’m sorry Philip…sorry…” father murmured, his face pale.
My heart sunk. Father apologized to us, which meant that it
was true then. There was indeed a big secret about our mother.
“What happen to our birth mother then? Where is she?!” I cried.
Father and his mate stayed in silence. Kylie snorted, crossing
her arms with an eyeroll, “Oh, you haven’t figured it out yet?
Your dear mother didn’t want you. That’s why she left. It must
be so painful to you…Oh wait, no. I guess you’ve gotten used to
the feeling of being abandoned that it stops to feel so bad,
haven’t you?”
The words hit me like a slap, sharp and brutal.
Yes, mother favored Kylie. I had never been her first choice, but
hearing it spoken so openly, so cruelly, made something inside
me snap. The years of pain, the years of feeling less–than, came
rushing to the surface, threatening to overwhelm me.

And it wasn’t just about me this time.
This hurt my brothers, too. I saw it in their eyes, the confusion,
the pain. We were all struggling with the same thing.
“Is it true?” Jayden asked, his voice barely above a whisper. “Is it
really true? Is our mother someone else’s?”
Our father lowered his head, his face etched with guilt. He
looked at us–each of us–and the silence stretched on.
And then, in a quiet voice, he repeated once more:
“…I’m sorry, kids.”
I felt my chest tighten as the words hit me. The apology wasn’t
enough. I wanted answers, not empty apologies! But no one had
any answers. Our family–our foundation–was built on lies.
And in that moment, I couldn’t take it anymore. The pain, the
confusion, the betrayal–it was too much. Everything I thought
I knew about myself, about my family, collapsed into darkness.
The world around me tilted, and before I could hold myself
steady, everything went black.
