arrett struggled against security, trying to rush the stage.
At that moment, his parents appeared and restrained him. “Garrett, you can’t make a scene. This is the Hayes family wedding We’ll figure something out afterward.”
“We can’t afford to offend the Hayes family.”
So Garrett watched helplessly as I said “I do.”
As I placed the ring on Julian’s finger.
As Julian and I kissed on stage.
His eyes blazed with desperation.
Meanwhile, I felt utterly triumphant.
But it wasn’t enough. Not nearly enough.
After the wedding, Julian had arranged a six month honeymoon.
I was taken aback–most people took a month at most, but he’d planned half a year.
Julian smiled openly. “I just want to take you away to clear your mind. You’ve always wanted to travel, haven’t you?”
Tears immediately filled my eyes.
When my mother was alive, she always worried about me, urging me not to stay cooped up in Garrett’s house, repeatedly encouraging me to see the world.
But Garrett was always busy.
I couldn’t bear to leave him, and I couldn’t leave my mother.
So in the process of meticulously maintaining Garrett’s home and being the perfect Mrs. Montgomery, I had completely abandoned my own dreams.
Yet Julian still remembered my childhood wishes.
My dormant heart suddenly began to beat again.
I took his hand. “Thank you.”
“Thank you for being my rock.”
Julian stroked my head. “I promised you before. I’m the one who came too late, letting you suffer so much.”
What I never expected was that Garrett would follow us on our honeymoon.
Every time, he waited along our route back to the hotel, holding a bouquet of roses with the pollen removed, beating exquisite gifts.
His eyes would immediately redden when he saw me.
“Rylee, I was wrong Can you come back to me?”
“I’ve missed you so much while you’ve been gone.”
“Rylee, I promise I’ll never hurt you like that again I’ve sent Daphne and Phoebe away Please come back–I can’t live without you!”

I laughed coldly, walking up to him and whispering in his ear: “Do you know what my mother said to me right before she died?”
“She said she wouldn’t be my burden anymore. She wanted me to leave you and find my own happiness.”
“Garrett Montgomery, I stopped loving you the moment you fell for those side pieces.”
“The only reason I stayed was for my mother’s survival.”
“YOU killed my mother. YOU pushed me away.”
“My room, our baby, my dog everything I cared about–you destroyed it all for Daphne and Phoebe. Do you honestly think I’d ever come back to you?”
Garrett’s face turned ashen as he shook his head. “No, that’s not true. I never meant for Mom to…”
My eyes blazed with fury. “DON’T YOU DARE CALL HER MOM!”
With that, I yanked up my sleeve, revealing the grotesque scars.
“If my mother knew I married a monster who nearly burned me alive, she would never let you live.”
Garrett couldn’t bear to look at my scars. He backed away several steps. “I’m sorry. I told security to rescue you.”
“I had no idea you’d be hurt.”
I twisted my lips into a bitter smile. “Sorry doesn’t cut it, Garrett. You’ll pay for every wound you inflicted on me–every single one.”
