Chapter 13 Appendicitis
Sean was about to go to bed when his phone rang.
“Hello…” He picked up the phone lazily, leaning back against his pillow.[]
It was Eva calling, but it wasn’t her voice on the other end. Sean frowned and moved the phone away from his ear, double–checking the number.
“Who is this?” Sean asked, pausing for two seconds before
continuing, “Lily?“[]
Eva and Lily were close friends, something Sean had known
even before
got married.
“What’s going on?” Sean sighed lightly, getting straight to the point.

“What hospital?” Without waiting for Lily to respond, Sean looked at the time and asked, already lifting the covers to get out of bed. “Send me the address.”
After hanging up, Sean got dressed quickly.[]
At this hour, with Eva’s call and Lily’s message, and knowing it was at the hospital, no matter the situation, he felt he had to go check on it first.
After getting dressed, Sean drove to the hospital following the address Lily had sent him.

When he arrived, there weren’t many people, and Lily was already waiting by the elevator.
When their eyes met, Lily didn’t really look at him but just glanced briefly and then looked away, signaling for him
to
follow her.
She led Sean to a hospital room, where Eva was lying on the bed, already hooked up to an IV. Her face looked quite pale.
Thanks for coming,” Eva raised her eyes tiredly when she saw Sean, still managing a few words.

“No trouble, what happened?” Sean took a step closer to the bed, but before he could ask any further, Lily was already sitting by the bed faster than him and handed him the surgery consent form.[]
“Mr. Shaw, since you’re still technically married to her, please sign this. She’s in a hurry for the surgery.”
Sean glanced at Eva, her eyelids heavy. Then he looked down at the consent form in his hands: Appendicitis.[]
Sean sighed and promptly signed the form.[]
“Alright, it’s done. You can go now,” Lily said, as she quickly took the form from his hands, giving him a quick glance at the door, signaling for him to leave.]
Sean didn’t move, still standing there.]
Lily didn’t care for his hesitation. She leaned down close to Eva, smoothing her sweaty hair, then spoke softly, “I’ll go find the doctor. You rest for a bit.”
Eva only slightly moved her eyelids. She looked very tired and in pain, but didn’t say anything.
Lily passed Sean and knocked on the door to the on–duty doctor.[]
Chapter 13 Appendicitis
“Doctor, the form is signed. Let’s proceed with the surgery,” Lily placed the signed form on the doctor’s desk.
The doctor pulled his mask down slightly, then picked up the form and carefully reviewed the signature and the date.[]
Lily tilted her head and suddenly leaned closer, supporting herself on the desk as she looked at him. “Doctor, are you going to do it, or should I call someone more experienced?”
The on–duty doctor, though his face was hidden by the mask, appeared young in both demeanor and behavior.
“I can do it,” the doctor raised his eyes and looked at her, his tone calm, his gaze indifferent, as if he didn’t mind Lily’s question.[]
“I’ll be careful. You said she had a history of an ectopic pregnancy T
surgery. Is there anything else I should know?“]
