Ryan acted like he hadn’t heard me and repeated the question.
Whatever patience I had left was gone. “If this isn’t urgent, I’m hanging up.”
“You really don’t plan to come back?”
I let out a chuckle. “Our agreement is over. Why would I go back?”
Ryan paused for a moment, then suddenly said, “I can offer more money. Is one million dollars enough?”
I sighed. My voice was calm as I replied, “Ryan, we’re not from the same world. Let’s not contact each other anymore.”
“I can make it two million dollars,” Ryan quickly said.
“I already lost nine years of freedom. I’m not spending the rest of my life tied to you.”
My refusal lit his fuse instantly. “Daisy, don’t be ungrateful! I’m asking you one last time. Are you-”
I cut him off sharply, “I’m never going back to you! Bye!”
And with that, I ended the call.
I didn’t care if Ryan lost it on the other end of the line.
Ryan stared at the disconnected screen. He was stunned for a second, then hurled his phone to the ground and stormed out.

Back in his study, he sent a message to his assistant. “Make Clare the official Luna.”
Ryan thought that if I heard he was making Clare his Luna, I would come running back with teary eyes, just like before.
But he forgot one thing. The day I left was the same day he held that bonding ceremony with Clare.
I had already stopped caring about that fake title.
After that, Ryan and Clare put on a full–blown show for the entire pack. She even started a live stream channel, uploading their daily romance for all to see.
When Amy found out, she came to tell me.
I was reviewing a formula when she burst into the room. Frowning, I asked, “Don’t you have work to do?”
She grinned. “I just thought it’d make you laugh. Ryan’s really spoiling that she–wolf.”
Noticing that I didn’t say much, Amy clicked her tongue in disappointment and turned to leave. But after a few steps, she suddenly glanced back. “Hey, did you receive the signed mate dissolution agreement?”
My hands stilled for a moment before I answered, exasperated, “Not yet. He hasn’t signed them. I honestly don’t get what’s on his mind. When I have time, I’ll go back and sort it out.”
Amy threw out one last line, “Maybe he just can’t let you go.”
I had wondered that too, but I quickly shook the thought away.
An Alpha like Ryan was nothing more than a selfish control freak. To him, I was just another piece that made his life easier.
Whenever it suited him, he could name a price and lay out terms. And when I turned him down, I bruised his pride. That was why he wouldn’t back off.
All that over–the–top affection he flaunted with Clare was just another trap he set, thinking he could lure me back. ·
But I was no longer the Daisy I used to be.
