By the time I was finally done with work,
one week had already passed.
When I turned my phone back on, the first thing I saw was a live stream of Clare’s official Luna ceremony. Curiosity got the better of me, and I clicked in.
Clare stood at the center of the venue, beaming in a white ceremonial wolf robe.
However, Ryan’s expression looked stormy. His eyes scanned the crowd, like he was looking for something important.
When the ceremony began, Clare called his name over and over before he barely reacted.
Just as the officiant stepped forward to speak, Ryan looked around one last time, as if confirming something.
Then, without warning, he grabbed the mic from the officiant and coldly anced, “This ceremony is canceled. Consider it a free dinner on me.”
And with that, he turned and walked off without looking back.
Clare’s eyes welled with tears. She chased after him and grabbed his arm. “Ryan, what the hell are you doing?”
Annoyed, he turned to her. “I changed my mind. I don’t want you to be my Luna.”
“Why not?” she demanded, clearly upset.

He replied coldly, “Because you’re just a stand–in. You don’t come close to the one I want.”
At the word “stand–in“, Clare was so stunned that she could barely speak. “A stand–in? You’re saying I was just a substitute?”
Ryan ignored her heartbreak and said coldly, “You always were.”
Clare tried to argue, but one of Ryan’s guards stepped in and stopped her. Ryan simply walked away.

Not long after, my phone lit up with a familiar number. I declined the call without hesitation.
A second later, it rang again.
I frowned and blocked the number.
News of Ryan’s sudden cancellation of the Luna ceremony quickly climbed to the top of Northia’s trending topics list.
Wolves everywhere were furious, saying he had disgraced a she–wolf in front of the entire pack.
Then, a comment surfaced from someone claiming to know the truth. “Ryan’s been married for nine years. The one in the ceremony was just a homewrecker.”
The gossip spread like wildfire. Comments flooded in as wolves demanded to know the truth. That user laid my entire history with Ryan bare.
It didn’t take long before the whole city was talking about it. Many began swarming Clare’s social media, asking if she really
was the other woman.
