As soon as Claude got back to the hospital, he heard Caroline’s voice.
“Miss Ellis, is that guy who’s been taking care of you your boyfriend? He’s so sweet to you.”
“Oh, we’re not… I mean, Claude’s always treated me this way.”
Caroline giggled with obvious pride, essentially confirming the boyfriend assumption. This wasn’t the first time Claude had heard this kind of thing. He knew what Caroline want, but it would never happen.
Aaliyah was the only person he’d ever love, even if they divorced a hundred times, they’d get remarried again.
By now, Aaliyah should have happily withdrawn the divorce papers.
Thinking of her, Claude’s lips curved into a smile as he walked into the hospital room. When Caroline saw him, her face immediately flushed red.
Claude, you actually came! What about Aaliyah? If you don’t go to her, won’t you really end up divorced?”
learing her pathetic attempt at manipulation, Claude almost wanted to laugh. Did she really think he couldn’t see right through her? The bitch just wanted to ake Aaliyah’s place. If she couldn’t make Aaliyah jealous, he wouldn’t waste a second on her.
Now that the divorce papers had just been withdrawn, he’d had enough fun these past few days. His attitude toward Caroline grew cold, responding with casual ndifference.
The papers are already withdrawn. I’m not divorcing Aaliyah.”

Oh, I see. Aaliyah probably begged you shamelessly again, right? Claude, you’re great at everything-you’re just too soft-hearted.”

He glanced around. Caroline had pretty much recovered. Rather than taking care of her, he wanted to see Aaliyah’s happy expression. In the past, whenever he greed to withdraw the papers, Aaliyah would cook a huge feast to please him. That careful yet unrestrained love had fascinated Claude time and time again.
I’m going home. You can stay here by yourself.” He said, about to leave.

But since he’d just agreed to withdraw the papers today, he couldn’t let her get too comfortable yet.

“Get out. Sit in the back.” Claude clarified with a frown.
He didn’t want Caroline sitting in Aaliyah’s seat today.
“Why? I always sit here, Claude…” Caroline said pitifully, but before she could finish, Claude cut her off.
“Either sit in the back or get out of the car.”
Feeling Claude’s non-negotiable tone, Caroline held out for a moment, realized there was no room for compromise, and reluctantly moved from the passenger seat to the back, fuming.
The next second, Claude couldn’t wait to hit the gas and speed off.
Just thinking about how Aaliyah must be waiting for him obediently in the living room made Claude unable to control his emotions.
He ran countless red lights, barreling through traffic until he finally reached the intersection before the villa, then stopped and regained his composure, only the slight upturn of his lips giving him away.
