Chapter 11

Chapter 11

For the last few hundred meters, Claude drove extremely slowly, as if he didn’t want to go home. But as soon as he reached the door, he was the first to get out

“We’re here. Get out.” He said, instinctively about to walk straight inside, then remembered something and stepped back to wait for Caroline.

The woman in the back seat was dizzy from Claude’s reckless driving and took a while to recover before getting out. She thought Claude would go in first, bart when she saw him waiting for her, her eyes lit up, and she put on a pleased expression as she walked over to link arms with him.

“Sorry, Claude. Did I keep you waiting?”

Claude said nothing and led her to push open the door.

He expected to see a lavish dinner, to see Aaliyah clumsily wearing an apron doing everything she could to please him. He expected to see her usual tolerance, her humble yet passionate love.

But when Claude pushed open the door, the place was empty. Nothing like what he’d imagined.

The slight smile that had been forming on his lips instantly dropped.

“Your injury isn’t healed yet. Want to stay here tonight?” He turned to Caroline gently.

In reality, his brows were tense with suppressed anger. Aaliyah hadn’t shown her love like she usually did. He’d only agreed to withdraw the divorce papers today-not even a full day-and she’d already gone off somewhere!

If that’s how it was, then he’d have to keep pushing Aaliyah’s buttons.

Claude kept his expression neutral while putting on a gentle act, letting Caroline bask in it.

Thanks, Claude. But won’t I be in the way if I stay here? I mean, you and Aaliyah just got back together today-what if she gets jealous and you guys end up

filing for divorce again because of me?”

Caroline laughed sweetly, her words exactly what Claude wanted to hear.

He snorted coldly, his gaze drifting toward the upstairs room.

“You haven’t done anything wrong. If Aaliyah’s not happy about it, she can go find somewhere else to stay.”

Caroline followed his gaze and immediately figured out that room belonged to Aaliyah. She looked excited, then quickly controlled herself, gently tucking a

strand of hair behind her ear.

“Well then, I guess I’ll take that room upstairs. That’s okay, right Claude?”

Claude chuckled softly without responding, but his steps toward the stairs already showed his answer. He climbed the stairs step by step and pushed open the door-“Aaliyah, can you hear me? Caroline wants your room.”

The scene he’d imagined didn’t happen. The room was completely empty, with none of her belongings in sight.

Only then did Claude’s expression change. He suddenly remembered that last time Caroline came to stay, Aaliyah had moved out and never moved back. Looking at the empty room now, Claude suddenly felt anxious. Why wasn’t Aaliyah home? She should have been back by now.

She must have been delayed somewhere.

He forced down his inner panic and spoke to Caroline.

“Go ahead and move in. Aaliyah hasn’t brought her stuff back yet anyway.”

Caroline’s face lit up with joy as she eagerly agreed.

She planned to buy all her living essentials online and have them delivered directly. Considering she might be living with Claude for a long time, Caroline deliberately asked for his opinion on every single item.

They bought matching towels, toothbrushes, even replaced the sheets and comforter. Watching the movers go in and out, gradually erasing all traces of Aaliyah, Claude said nothing but his brows furrowed tightly.

He kept picking up his phone and putting it down. Aaliyah still hadn’t texted him today. Usually, on the first day after withdrawing divorce papers, Aaliyah

couldn’t help but send him a long message, but so far, he’d received nothing.

As long as Aaliyah came back, apologized, and tried to please him, he would send Caroline away and change everything in th

That’s what he told himself, standing in the villa for hours until Caroline had replaced everything and the last trace of Aaliya did his usually perfect composure crack.

Abandoning his pride, he called her with a dark expression.

He’d already figured out what his first words would be, but the phone rang for a full minute before he heard only the cold el

This was the first time Aaliyah hadn’t answered his call.

Rage surged through him as he typed out a message.

“Not answering my calls? We just got back together and you already want another divorce?!”

The message wouldn’t send. He got a red exclamation mark instead.
