Chapter 2
Chapter 2
I raised my head and stared at the man before me, my voice hard. “Julian, what if I insist?”
Julian frowned, then suddenly drove the tip of his fountain pen deep into his palm. Blood instantly dripped onto the floor, the crimson drops stark and horrifying against the dark wood.
“No! Stop!” I shook my head in terror. “Okay, okay… I don’t want to anymore! Julian, I’m sorry…”
He seemed to understand and stopped.
Blood continued to fall in steady drops.
I frantically dabbed at his palm with trembling hands, my eyes burning as I stared at the bite marks covering his fingers-self-inflicted wounds from his autism.
One month.
I’d give myself one month to fight for Julian.
Consider it closure for this marriage.
If it still didn’t work… I’d file for divorce myself. Let him have Emma.
The next morning, I was preparing to cancel Emma’s therapy sessions when a servant knocked on my door.
“Ma’am, Dr. Emma has arrived and is waiting in the study. Should I inform Mr. Julian?”
“No need,” I cut her off coldly. “I’ll speak with her myself.”
I rose and marched straight to the study, shoving the door open.
Inside, Emma looked up at the sound. The moment she saw me, her smile vanished. “Why is it you? Where’s Julian?”
She quickly realized her mistake and backtracked. “Ms. Diana, these psychological consultations are meant to be one-on-one sessions between Julian and myself.”
Julian…
Such an intimate tone.
I dug my nails into my palms and smiled. “Julian had quite an… exhausting night. He’s still recovering and hasn’t woken up yet. I don’t have the heart to disturb him. Dr. Emma, could you wait a little longer?”
Emma’s face went rigid.
She forced a stiff nod. “Of course. I understand.”
I lowered my gaze to her outfit-a sharply tailored dark business suit. The skirt’s slit was perfectly positioned, offering tantalizing glimpses of her long, elegant
legs.
Her skin was blindingly pale and flawless.
Yesterday on the surveillance feed, I’d seen Emma’s naked torso, every inch of skin smooth and pristine-so much more beautiful than my body covered in black scabs and scars.
Even Julian, with his extreme aversion to physical contact, couldn’t resist such temptation.
That was the first time…
The first time I’d ever seen that dazed, obsessed expression on Julian’s face.
As if he were drowning in some forbidden pleasure.
But he used to be so repulsed by touch, wasn’t he?
He found even using his hands to satisfy me disgusting.
Yet with Emma, all of Julian’s compulsions and psychological barriers simply evaporated. He didn’t even have his usual instinct to push he
In that moment, I felt my organs twist into knots, aching with jealousy.
I stared coldly at Emma. “However, Dr. Emma, Julian told me last night that your consultation process was quite… torturous. You won’t ne 12 find Julian a new doctor. I’ll have your final payment ready today.”
“That’s impossible!”
Emma shot to her feet, disbelief written across her face. “Julian said yesterday that he felt wonderful!”
Felt wonderful…
‘Are you calling me a liar?” I demanded angrily.
‘No, no, you misunderstand!” Emma scrambled to explain. “Ms. Diana, there must be some miscommunication. Julian responded very v yesterday. With another six months of consistent sessions, we’ll definitely see progress. We communicate so smoothly…”
six months? Smoothly?
laughed coldly to myself.
Did she expect me to watch my husband entangle himself with another woman for six more months?
My patience snapped. I called for the servants. “Escort Ms. Emma out.”
