Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Such a simple sentence.
But after seven years together, I immediately understood Julian’s meaning-
Emma would be moving in to live with him. And I was to prepare her room.
In that moment, my calf muscles seized with a violent cramp.
I leaned against the wall in pain, my body trembling slightly, unable to respond to Julian’s demand.
Emma gently tugged at Julian’s sleeve.
“It’s okay, Julian. I can just come every day for your treatments. After all, this is your home with your wife. How could I possibly move in? Besides…”
She paused, then continued, “Ms. Diana looks unwell. I think she probably doesn’t want me to stay either.”
This time, Julian finally looked at me.
After a moment of silence, he spoke: “She’s faking it.”
Faking it.
I laughed bitterly.
My body collapsed to the floor.
From blood loss, I was growing dizzy and disoriented.
But Julian’s words still reached my ears with perfect clarity.
When I’d recovered some strength, I asked quietly, “Julian, only married couples live together. If you want to live with Emma, what does that make us?”
Julian frowned.
He seemed to genuinely consider the question.
Then, after a moment of thought, he looked almost relieved.
“We can get divorced.”
Divorced.
He said it so casually, like ordering coffee.
The throbbing in my forehead intensified.
I reached up to touch my scalp-my hand came away covered in blood.
Yet no one seemed to notice.
Not even my husband. He was too busy planning his new life with another woman.
As if ending our marriage was simply a logical next step.
I crouched there, staring at the patterns in the floor.
For the first time, I felt utterly pathetic.
My rain-soaked clothes turned ice-cold under the air conditioning. My entire body shook.
Meanwhile, Emma still wore my white wedding dress, looking elegant and dignified-nothing like an imposter.
The two of them stood together under the chandelier-a handsome man and a graceful woman. They looked like something from a magazine spread.

And me?
Covered in mud, soaked by rain, reeking of blood and filth.
How ridiculous.
During the car accident, I’d actually thought Julian might be calling to apologize.
What a fool I was.
Hle just wanted to trade wives.
Change locations.
Start fresh.
It had all been my fantasy-mine alone.
seven years ago, to foster intimacy with Julian, I’d only prepared one master bedroom in the entire estate.
Now I looked down and said, “It’s already very late. If Emma wants to move in, it’ll have to wait until tomorrow. There are no spare rooms available tonight.”
Emma hesitated. “But it’s pouring outside…”
I replied sarcastically, “I also came home in the rain. What’s wrong? Can’t Ms. Emma handle a little hardship? How will you take care of Julian in the future?”
No, that’s not what I meant…”
Emma immediately panicked.
But Julian stepped in front of her, saying coldly, “Emma’s health is delicate. She’s staying tonight. You’re soaked through-go find a motel.”
A sharp pain tore through my chest.
stared at Julian in disbelief.
lis expression remained cold and unmoved.
coughed several times, tasting blood in my throat. “Fine.”
stood up, didn’t look back, and walked straight out of the estate.
he driver was already waiting outside.
opened the car door, collapsed into the back seat, and said weakly, “Take me to the hospital.”
