A few evenings later, Mia and I were in our dorm room, each busy with our own things.
Mia’s phone suddenly rang.
After taking the call, she immediately ran over to show off: “Ruby, I’m going to be a big star! Grandpa wants me to come over right now–he’s taking me to meet directors and producers!”
I recalled the unpleasant memories from my past life.
I nodded hesitantly: “Then you should go quickly.”
Mia put on her most beautiful outfit, applied exquisite makeup, and left happily.
Something suddenly occurred to me, and I immediately called one of the bodyguards Caleb had assigned to protect me, asking one of them to follow Mia.
They went to a private club, but the bodyguard couldn’t get in and called me.
I called Caleb and asked him to figure out a way.

I agreed and hung up.

The next morning, Mia still hadn’t returned.
After washing up, I called Caleb.
“Did you find out anything last night?”

Caleb didn’t answer me, but instead asked: “What do

to see this for?”
After saying that, he hung up directly.
I didn’t have class that afternoon, so Caleb came to pick me up and took me to an apartment near school.
He played me a recording filled with men’s sleazy laughter.
Then I heard Sam’s disgusting and perverted voice.
“Mia, you take good care of these directors.”

I slapped at his hand: “You’re hurting me!”
Caleb immediately let go, then came over to check my chin: “You’re so delicate.
“I barely used any force.”
“That’s not true, it really hurt,” I complained.
Caleb tapped my head with his finger: “Listen to me, remember?

“I don’t know what you’re thinking, but I know you don’t like Mia and Grandpa.
“If you hate them, you can tell me directly, and I’ll get rid of them.
“But if I find out you’re doing something behind my back, then I’ll really be angry.”
I knew Caleb was worried about me, which is why he said this.
I wrapped my arms around his neck: “Caleb, you’re so good to
me.”
Caleb looked at me silently for a while, then sighed: “It’s because you’re so sweet–talking that I can never stay mad at you.”
I let go of him: “Then just abandon me.”
“Don’t say things like that,” Caleb said angrily.
He didn’t like hearing me say such things.
