“Sign it,” Evelyn murmured.
She flipped the agreement to the last page, concealing the title before handing it to him.
Reuben assumed that she just wanted some jewelry or assets.
He didn’t bother to check and signed the paper, wanting to put an end to this farce.
He finished signing and looked up.
“Addy hasn’t been feeling well, and since there’s no one to take care of her at home, she needs to stay here for a while.”
Evelyn nodded numbly.”Be my guest.”
She picked up the file and left steadfastly.
Evelyn headed to the law firm.
The lawyer reviewed the divorce agreement and nodded.
“The signature is valid, Mrs. Gregson. In a month, once the cooling-off period ends, your marriage with Mr. Gregson will officially be dissolved.”
Evelyn gripped the papers tightly, her fingertips turning white.
It was about to be over finally!
In the evening, when Evelyn got back to the villa, the sound of laughter and chatter echoed from the living room.
Addison sat on the couch with Wes and Nolan cuddling on either side, listening eagerly as she told a story.
“In the end, the prince’s kiss woke the princess, and they lived happily ever after.” Addison stroked the boys’ heads.
Wes craned his neck and said,”Addy, you’re way nicer than mom.”
Nolan gave a nod.
I wish you were our mom.”
Evelyn froze at the door, as if someone had stabbed her in her heart.
She went upstairs expressionlessly and took a shower in the guest bathroom.
Although the warm water washed over her fatigue, it couldn’t wash away the pain in her heart.
She closed her eyes and thought, “Don’t worry! Your wish is about to come true.”
Shortly after Evelyn lay down, the mattress suddenly sagged.
Reuben took a shower and lay down next to her.
Evelyn lay with her back to him, not moving at all.
Suddenly, he leaned closer, wrapped his arm around her waist, and kissed the back of her neck.
Evelyn’s body tensed up.
She suddenly pushed him away!
Reuben frowned, “I’ve already made it up to you, and your brother was safe and sound. Will you stop being so dramatic?”
Before Evelyn could say something, a knock came at the door.
Wes poked his little head in.
“Dad! The forecast says there’ll be thunder tonight. Isn’t Addy scared of thunder?”
Nolan peeked in, too.
“Dad, come keep Addy company! She’s scared!”
Reuben glanced at the darkening sky outside the window and stood up without hesitation.
Before heading out, he said coldly, “You’re sleeping alone tonight.”
