Innocence 6

Innocence 6

Jackson and Hayden were busy preparing for

the wedding.

I was busy packing my bags and transferring

all the assets I had grabbed from the Halls.

I had a good friend overseas, Abby, who had

booked me an abortion appointment in a

hospital and found me a place with the floor-

to-ceiling windows and a big balcony I

wanted.

The allowance had been deposited.

Of course, split into two payments, one from

each brother.

That afternoon, Hayden took me dress

shopping.

He poked my stomach. “Your tummy’s a little

round. Eating something good lately?”

I clutched my stomach. “Mind your own

business.”

He laughed. “Getting feistier as the wedding

gets closer.”

He took my hand and slipped a ring on my

finger.

It had a diamond the size of a pigeon’s egg.

He hugged me. “It’s perfect. You’ll be mine

soon.”

I hugged him back and hummed in

agreement.

The comments section was not pleased:

[I can’t stand this skank. Does she really think

he’s going to marry her? What a joke.]

[If she had any self-respect, she’d run after

overhearing those things. Guess she’s a gold

digger.]

[You’re right. She’s a total gold digger. These

guys are rich and hot. Of course she doesn’t

want to leave.]

[She’d better take the money and run, or our

girl will screw her over at the wedding.]

I didn’t feel like arguing with them.

I was silently calculating how much the ring

would sell for.
