Innocence 9

Innocence 9

After arriving in France, I lived with Abby.

Abby watched the livestream and laughed.

“They were acting like they were tricking you,

but you were tricking them the whole time.”

“I’ve never seen you this smart.”

“The Halls are falling apart. They’re saying the

brothers are looking for you.”

Not surprising.

I had humiliated them before leaving.

Especially Hayden. I emphasized how bad he

was in bed.

To be fair, he was pretty good.

But I had to burn bridges when I left.

I bit into an apple. “How’s my abortion

appointment?”

“All set. Just some tests,” Abby said.

“Good. Let’s do it soon.”

Abby went with me to the hospital for the

tests.

I was getting a D&C.

A week before the procedure, Abby bought

me a candy bag and told me not to stress.

I hugged the bag with tears in my eyes: “Life

doesn’t always work out the same way for

everyone.”

On the day of the procedure, I lay in bed,

getting anesthesia.

Someone approached me.

Was it the doctor?

The footsteps got closer.

I opened my eyes.

I saw something, but a chill ran down my

spine.

It was bone-chilling.

It wasn’t the doctor.

It was Jackson and Hayden, with bodyguards.

The last thought I had was, “I’m so f*cked.”

I wanted to move, to run, but I couldn’t.

I was a lamb for the slaughter.

Jackson leaned in and carried me out.

Hayden stood behind him, clenching his fist.
