Chapter 8
I could barely stand, my whole body trembling. In my previous life, my father had been present at the wedding when I died. Antonio put my wedding dress on Yvonne and crowned her with the veil. To anyone else, it would have been impossible to tell it was someone else in my place.
Before I passed out, I saw Antonio gently take Yvonne’s hand and kiss it tenderly, as if nothing had ever happened.
Andrew steadied me, and I whispered the news to him. His face turned pale, and he quickly ushered me away.
In the car, I desperately tried contacting my contacts in Camwick, but no one answered.
Just as I was anxiously trying to figure out what to do, several cars appeared on the road, frantically speeding toward us. As skillful as my driver could be, we couldn’t avoid being surrounded.
There was a loud crash and I passed out.
I woke up again, only to feel a huge pain all over my body. To my devastation, I couldn’t perceive my arms and legs.
Inside the dilapidated house, a man sat quietly watching me.
“Chad!”
The man came up to me.
“It’s really you.”
“Ms. Parrish.” The raspy voice made the man look even more somber. It was also clear from his movements that his arm and leg hadn’t recovered yet.
“Ms. Parrish, you’re so cruel. I’ve been treating you so well, yet you disabled me just as you said so.”
“So you want to get back at me? Did something happen to my father or not?”
“Of course Mr. Parrish is fine!”
My heart instantly dropped into my stomach. Thank God.
“Did you tamper with the dark web information to lure me out? Is it worth it to do it just for a woman?”
“I don’t know, but I didn’t think Ms. Parrish would be so hard–hearted.”
“Do you know why?” I stared at Chad dead in the face.
Chad looked at me disheveled, and in his eyes were emotions I couldn’t understand.
“Because I’ve already died once!”

Chad instantly raised his head to look at me.

“Do you know how I died? I got my arms and legs broken, thrown into the valley, and then, guess what? Wolves got a whiff of it and came. They came in packs, tore open my stomach, yanked out my intestines and gnawed on them, ate my eyes, and each tore into me with their sharp teeth. What do you think it would feel like, to see yourself eaten by wolves?” I looked at Chad viciously as I said.
Chad was stunned by my words and looked at me incredulously.
He crouched down, covering his head and shaking uncontrollably.
I didn’t know if Chad was really scared, but I didn’t care anymore.
“So, did I do it?”

I lay back and replied flatly, “Yes, you and Antonio broke my arms and legs alive at my wedding just to make me make way for Yvonne so that she could marry Antonio fair and square and live a good life.”
Chad knelt on the ground, his head on the ground, his body trembling, his voice choked, “That’s why you and wasted me!”
“I wished I could kill you!” I returned calmly.
Chad didn’t say another word as I passed out in pain.
