Chapter 6
When I stepped out of the City Hall, Ivor suddenly called out to me.
Perhaps it was because I hadn’t eaten breakfast that morning, but everything suddenly went dark before my eyes.
I stumbled backward.
But the anticipated pain never came.
A pair of broad, strong hands braced my back, giving me ample support.
After the divorce, Ivor’s attitude towards me had softened considerably.
“Be careful. How old are you, still so clumsy?”
I couldn’t recall the last time
I had spoken to Ivor so calmly.
Or perhaps, after he had proposed the divorce to me,
I had ceased to have any normal interactions with anyone.
In that empty villa, I clung to his old belongings, hoping and waiting for him to change his mind.
Even going so far as to convince myself, for his sake; that maybe I shouldn’t care about Kira’s existence anymore.
Looking back now, how foolish I had been then.
Ivor’s hands withdrew from me.
With a wave of his hand, several black–suited bodyguards emerged from a car by the roadside.
They surrounded me.
“I owe Kira too much. Your presence here will make her the subject of gossip.
Don’t worry, it’s not like I’m banishing you forever. Just half a year. Once Kira and I are married, no one will dare to look down on her anymore.”
His words successfully brought tears to my eyes.
Can he really be that ruthless to me?
Ivor watched silently, without a flicker of emotion.
Should I be grateful that he’s even giving me time to grieve?
At this moment, all the pent–up emotions
seemed to dissipate all at once.
I took out my phone and canceled the medication pickup appointment I’d made.
When I looked up again, he still wore that cold expression.
“Ivor, once I leave this time, I won’t be coming back.”
The man rubbed his temples.
The joy of divorcing me seemed to have faded somewhat,
“Nina, even though we’re separating, we can still be friends. I really didn’t want to hurt you. Can you understand that?”
I took a deep look at him.

Chapter 6
Then, I lifted my feet and got into the car.
A week after my departure, Ivor couldn’t wait to announce his wedding date with Kira Adams.
In the backstage of the wedding venue, Kira looked at the woman in the mirror wearing a wedding gown, feeling like she was in a dream.
After meeting Ivor, she had broken up with her college boyfriend.
Knowing full well that he already had a wife, she still couldn’t help but fall in love with him.
The man wrapped his arms around his bride from behind, his voice so gentle it was intoxicating.
“Why are you crying? Even if you regret marrying me now, it’s too late.”
Kira wiped away her tears and smiled.
Then, a hint of guilt flickered across her blissful face.
“Actually, you didn’t have to chase Miss Carter away. With you by my side, no one would dare to gossip about me.”
The man let out a soft chuckle with his deep voice.
“Foolish girl, after all the trouble she’s caused us, don’t you hate her? It’s no big deal to teach her a lesson.
I’m just standing up for you.”
Having been seen through, Kira gently bit her lower lip.
“It’s not that I hate her. I just can’t stand seeing others coveting you secretly, especially since you two had a past together. Ivor, I’m jealous. That day when I went with you to see her, I saw traces of you and her all over that old house of yours. I could tell that you two had loved each other once.”
Ivor paused in his movements, straightening up slightly.
In a very indifferent tone, he said,
“It’s all in the past.”
