Chapter 172
Just moments ago, the livestream chat was buzzing with excitement, rockets and confetti flooding the screen.
“Mr. Simmons just made the same mistake all men make! Mrs. Simmons, forgive him!!!
“Cheating isn’t a one–time thing–it’s either never or countless times!”
“He slept with his wife’s sister and even has a secret child Unforgivable!”
“Ditch the scumbag and put that homewrecker in her place! Mrs. Simmons, you’re better off on your own!”
“Three–legged toads are hard to find, but two–legged men are everywhere! Mrs. Simmons, let me introduce you to my brother!”
“Mr. Simmons, if your wife doesn’t want you, I do!”
Comments tumbled down the screen in a relentless cascade.
Eddy sat frozen on the sofa, every muscle tense. He could hear his own panicked heartbeat thundering in his ears. Fear gripped him–a level of dread he’d never felt before. He was terrified he wouldn’t be able to win his wife back, terrified that the tracker wouldn’t lead him to her. “Sweetheart…
Before he could finish, his phone exploded with a sharp bang, searing his palm before clattering to the floor in a smoldering heap.
His laptop, still running the tracking software, began to smoke and spark.
‘Mr. Simmons, we’ve been counter–hacked! They just used an EMP to fry the phone and the computer!” one of the tech analysts cried out in shock. “Only a world–class hacker could pull this off!”
The livestream audience went wild again.
“Mr. Simmons tried to track/Mrs. Simmons‘ phone! Still lying to her! Unforgivable!”
“Even the hackers couldn’t stand watching Mr. Simmons betray her!”
Blood trickled down from Eddy’s earlobe.
He stared at the ruined phone, feeling the throbbing pain in his ear, and realized–his wife didn’t care anymore. He remembered a time when a simple sneeze would make her fuss over him, brewing him tea, coaxing him to eat. Now, all he felt was agony, as if it wasn’t the phone that had exploded, but his own heart.

He reached for the livestream camera, his handsome face magnified on every screen, now twisted with regret and despair. His voice was a cracked whisper, desperation etched in every word: “Please, sweetheart, just give me one more. chance. Don’t leave me.”
He would keep Jeannette far away from their home, never let her near his wife
again.
He’d make sure Blanche never found out, never let anyone harm her–not even a little.
If he could just have one more chance, he’d make everything perfect.
Smoke curled through the room as flames began to spread. The living room descended into chaos.
A ringing filled his ears. Darkness crept into the edges of his vision. His hands slipped from the camera, and his body slumped to the floor. The livestream ended with a shrill, piercing whine.
Meanwhile, a traitor had been discovered in the tech department. Sensitive
research had leaked onto the black market.
Wasting no time, Blanche took over the department the day after she arrived, assembling a team to recover the stolen work.
She knocked on Ablett’s office door. “Director–General, here’s my proposal for a dual–layered security firewall. Please take a look.”
Ablett skimmed the pages, his fingers lingering on the last one. He signed his name at the end. “From now on, you don’t need my approval for

your decisions.”
At the same time, Eddy was rushed into emergency surgery.
The media swarmed the hospital, eager for any scrap of news.
“Sources confirm: Mr. Simmons is suffering severe hearing loss and a major concussion. His condition is critical, and he’s currently in the ER!”
“At the opening bell this morning, The Simmons Group stock plummeted after Mr. Simmons admitted, live on air, to cheating on his wife with her sister. Trading was halted as the board convened an emergency meeting, led by the Simmons Foundation, to officially remove Mr. Simmons as CEO!”
“With blows to both his career and his health, can Mr. Simmons survive this crisis?

And will Mrs. Simmons ever forgive him? Stay tuned for Camilla’s report!”
Off–camera, Camilla couldn’t help but sigh. “Honestly, what do men hope to gain from cheating? Half the time, it tears the whole family apart.”
“This mistress doesn’t even hold a candle to Mrs. Simmons. What’s the point? Just chasing novelty, I guess.”
“Do you think Mrs. Simmons will ever forgive him?” Camilla wondered aloud. “Their son’s pitiful–he’s been crying nonstop since last night.”
Meanwhile, in a quiet hospital room-
Loraine watched Eddy, her face etched with worry. “Eddy, are you really okay?”
Eddy, immaculate in his suit despite everything, sat on the sofa and pulled the tearful Healy onto his lap, gently rocking him. “Your mom loves you more than anything. She’d never leave you, I promise. If you eat well, go to school, and behave, she’ll come back that much sooner. You understand?”
Healy sniffled and nodded, burying his face in his father’s chest.
Eddy’s tone shifted as he addressed his bodyguard. “Keep an eye on Fernando. I want to know his every move.”
His wife had given her beloved Ocean Jewel to Terrell–there had to be a
connection.
“And put out a public announcement.”
“Yes, sir. What should it say?”
Eddy’s dark eyes shimmered with turmoil. “Just say I’m on my deathbed, and I’m begging my wife to see me one last time.”
The bodyguard nodded and left.
Loraine watched her son take command as if nothing had changed, her anxiety deepening. “Eddy, let Laney go. Let yourself go, too.”
“You still have Healy. Someday you’ll love someone else-
“My wife is Blanche. There will never be anyone else.” Eddy cut her off coldly, his eyes steely. “You’re my mother, so I can’t blame you for what you did to manipulate me. But from now on, stay away from me and my son.”
Loraine snapped, her voice sharp. “If you want to break ties with me, you’d better kick Jacob and that shameless woman out of The Simmons Group first!”

Eddy’s gaze darkened, unreadable. “It’s Just The Simmons Group. If Laney wants it, she can have it.”
News of Eddy’s critical condition spread by the next day. At the same time, Healy. was expelled from his elite private preschool and thrown out of the family estate.
A video of Healy, standing in the pouring rain and crying for his mother after being forced out, began to circulate widely online.
