Chapter 8

His tone was incredibly arrogant, as if Christian had offered me some irresistible tempting condition.

I couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.

Then I said coldly: “Finley, I was too lenient with you before, which made you think you could enjoy the benefits while also taking what’s mine? I bought this house-what gives you the right to kick me out?”

I deliberately raised my voice when saying the last sentence, making sure everyone present could hear me clearly.

Ignoring everyone’s surprised looks, I walked straight into the living room.

Emilia stamped her foot in anger: “Finley, how are we supposed to play games with outsiders around?”

Finley pressed his lips together, saying nothing.

Albie cleared his throat lightly, trying to ease the tension: “Finley’s aunt is our aunt too. Let’s all play together.”

I raised an eyebrow: “What game?”

Albie explained: “Truth or Dare. Whoever the bottle lands on has to accept a challenge. Anyone who fails the challenge has to drink a whole bottle of beer.”

I had originally planned to kick them out directly, but I felt that just publicly embarrassing Finley was too easy a punishment for him.

So I smiled and said: “Then I’ll join too.”

In the first round, the bottle pointed to me.

I chose “Truth.”

Everyone exchanged glances. Since they weren’t familiar with me, they didn’t know what to ask for a moment.

Emilia eagerly asked: “Is there anyone here who’s the object of your sexual fantasies?”

After asking, she looked at me with malicious intent.

The atmosphere immediately became awkward. Among the people present, I only knew Finley. Combined with Emilia’s undisguised hostility toward me, everyone would naturally think about the relationship between Finley and me.

Finley’s face instantly turned pale.

I sneered inwardly. Emilia was still too naive. She only thought about attacking me, but forgot that these people were just strangers I’d met by chance-we wouldn’t see each other again— while they were Finley’s classmates who he dealt with every day. So Emilia’s question would bring huge losses to herself.

I answered calmly: “I have rather picky taste-not just anyone can win my favor. If I suddenly switched to someone of lower caliber, I’d get indigestion.”

Emilia was momentarily speechless.

The people around couldn’t help but laugh.

Only Finley suddenly looked up, glaring at me fiercely: “Isabelle, what do you mean by that?”

I spread my hands: “Exactly what it sounds like.”

Then I spun the beer bottle.

This time it landed on Emilia.

She confidently chose “Truth.”

I asked directly: “Did you use your father’s position to push out the more qualified Archie so Finley could get into the research group?”

Everyone’s expressions immediately became animated.

Obviously, they hadn’t expected Emilia and Brody to be father and daughter.

Only Emilia’s mouth fell open, shocked that I actually knew this

secret.

Her reaction said it all. At MIT, which values fair competition, this kind of underhanded dealing would spread throughout the 3/5

entire department by tomorrow.

Emilia’s face turned red, unable to say a word.

I smiled and said: “If you can’t answer, then drink up.”

Finley suddenly scolded in a low voice: “Enough!”

I raised an eyebrow: “This is just a little game-you’re not going to refuse to accept the punishment, are you?”

Finley stared at me intently, then finally grabbed the bottle: “I’ll drink for her.”

He then downed the entire bottle of beer in one go, earning a round of cheers.

Emilia’s eyes filled with admiration: “I’ll get you some liver protection pills.”

While she was away, Finley quickly moved closer to curry favor with me: “Isabelle, if you lose, I’ll drink for you too.”

Just as I was about to refuse, the doorbell suddenly rang.

I looked apologetically at everyone: “Game over-time for you all to leave.”

Finley walked to the door in confusion: “Who else would be coming?”

At that moment, Archie stood straight outside the door. 4/5
