Marry 4

Chapter 4

Meanwhile, the hall outside was echoing with shrieks.

“My gods! Mr. Gilbert! Why are you sprouting feathers?”

The partygoers in the hall were staring at Sean’s freaky new look, their faces ghostly white.

My bodyguards kept my door sealed, keeping Sean’s freaky self out.

However, I was dying to know what kind of monster Sean would turn into under Ruby’s influence.

“Stop staring! I’m the Gilbert family’s pride and joy. I’m not going down like this!”

Sean’s screams filled the air as he slinked away into the shadows.

As I zipped my attire, Keith held me tight, like he never wanted to let go.

“Sweetheart, I can feel the crazy curse in my veins fading away. Thanks for saving me from turning into some kind of freak,” he whispered.

I gently ruffled his hair.

“You know, I’ve seen the hen curse come true once.”

Keith gave me a puzzled look.

In my previous life, I would have laughed at the idea of a man turning into a hen.

However, after I died, as my spirit was drifting away, I caught a glimpse of Keith all alone in some foreign place, his body all twisted and covered in decaying feathers. That was when I knew curses like that were no joke. They could really turn a guy into a hen.

I was unsure how the hen curse had spread back then, but Keith got lucky this time around. He had met me before he hit 30. We got hitched, and, together, we would smash that mean, scary curse to bits.

“Keith, I have this gift for breaking curses, and I have a sense of what’s coming with this one.”

I thought about spilling the beans on his previous life, but I figured some things are better left unsaid. If he knew the gruesome way he kicked the bucket before, it would probably wreck him.

“If you’ve seen it, then let me in on it too,” he said.

“To be honest, I’m dying to know what kind of curse can turn a dude into a hen out of the blue.”

We wrapped up our chat, and Keith, then fully dressed, slung an arm around me and swung the door open.

The hallway was jam-packed with nosy guests craning their necks to see the commotion.

There was Sean, feathers stained with blood falling all around him, wrapped in a bloody sheet, shivering on the floor.

The second Sean caught on to us opening the door, he leaped up from the floor like something out of a horror movie, scrambling on all fours back to his room.

In a flash, Sean was back in his room, the door shut tightly behind him.

Out in the hallway, Sean’s angry rants and Ruby’s sobs were crystal clear.

“Ruby, you heartless witch! How could you do this to me?

“You told me you’re a curse-breaker. Why don’t you just drop dead?”

The room echoed with the sounds of slaps and things thrown and shattered.

“Please, Sean, I don’t understand what’s happening,” Ruby said, sobbing.

“Sean, you know it’s true. I’m a curse-breaker. I have the power. Please, stop hitting me. It hurts so much…”

Brianna and Walter rushed to the scene, their faces turning sour as they took in the chaos erupting from behind the door.

“Please, everyone, head back,” Walter said, his voice steady but firm.

“We’d appreciate it if you’d keep today’s events to yourselves,” he said, with gratitude lacing his words as he nodded respectfully to the crowd.

His message was loud and clear: spill the beans about Sean’s hen transformation, and the Gilberts would not be kind.

The guests knew better than to mess with the Gilberts. They nodded, offering nervous smiles, accepting the silent warning.

In a flash, everyone bolted from the wedding like a stampede.
