Chapter 14
Inside the car.
Noticing Owen staring at her, with a hint of scrutiny, as if trying to discern her current expression.
Grace came to her senses, turned her head, and looked at him too.
The light and shadow fell behind the man, against the light, making it difficult to see the darkness in his eyes.
He was wrapped in a low-key and exquisite black Keaton coat, perhaps in a hurry. The top button was loose, adding a touch of casualness and relaxation to the previously restrained and cold look.
Suddenly, Owen bent down and moved forward, pressing down for no
reason.
“Did you have a crush on him?”
Grace was puzzled by this question, her expression blank for a moment before returning to calmness. “So what?” she replied.
As the distance closed, Grace could clearly see the sharpness in his eyes. His gaze skimmed over her eyebrows inch by inch, causing Grace’s heart to skip a beat as she involuntarily held her breath.
After a pause, he distanced himself again and sat back in his original position, his tone indifferent yet firm: “You won’t fall for him.”

In hindsight, Grace blinked her eyes and realized that something was wrong.
Owen’s behavior did not match his usual style; when did he ever care about the men around her?
Married for two years.
During this time, there was also a young boy who volunteered himself, and Owen was aware of it, but he never made any comments.
Today was really strange.
I came all the way to chase after you, only to hear some ambiguous words…
My thoughts drifted far away.
After a while, Grace opened her phone and tapped her fingers to ask the AI: “What could be the reason for someone who doesn’t love me to suddenly chase after me after leaving?”
The loading circle kept spinning.
She furrowed her brows, tapping the screen with her fingertips, lightly and repeatedly. This was her expression of annoyance.
Spun for a long time.
Finally, a line of text appeared on the screen: “Server busy, please try again later.”
Grace chuckled.

She turned off her phone, the dark screen reflecting her troubled face, which looked quite unattractive.
Suddenly, I let go.
What does it matter even if you know the answer?
In the novel, the chase-wife crematorium is only regretted because of the ’emotional deficit’. Being with someone for a long time forms a dependence, and when that person leaves, the brain falls into a state of emptiness, forcing the person to take actions to try to win them back.
That was not love.
It was just a habit.
She was well aware that Owen did not love her.
I don’t know how long it had been open, but the scenery outside the car window gradually became familiar.
Grace was stunned for two seconds.
This was the direction leading to her guesthouse. Just around the corner ahead, you could see the small building with a red roof.
The car stopped.
The sky was dark, with faint traces of rain.
Grace didn’t move, but instead she glanced at the house deeply and asked, “Did you have someone follow me?”
The tone was filled with suppression.

She didn’t like being controlled, just like Pamela treated her, controlling her life and thoughts, making her feel suffocated.
In the shadow.
Owen looked at her with the same indifferent expression, gave a nonchalant “hmm,” then lowered his head and glanced at the watch on his wrist: “The flight tomorrow at 9 o’clock, you and I will return to our country together.”
His indifferent attitude made Grace feel like her departure was an unnoticed farce.
The long-suppressed life and the ignored anger erupted at this
moment.
Grace tightened her grip on the stem of the flower, closed her eyes tightly, and then slowly opened them again. “Owen, has anyone ever told you that you’re really annoying?”
