Blake didn’t agree to Madeline’s proposal, but she didn’t get angry. Instead, she suggested he go to work first and fulfill the promise he’d made.
He agreed in a daze.
Arriving at the restaurant, he found it completely renovated. The spot where the chandelier had fallen was spotless, showing no trace of the incident. Madeline had spent considerable money on public relations, and with the temporary closure, many people were unaware of what had happened. The restaurant was filled with customers.
At the bar, Blake mixed drinks according to customers’ requests. He had previously become a pilot because of a casual comment from Madeline, and had taught himself bartending because of her dreams.
The cocktail shaker danced between his long fingers like a performance, attracting attention and drawing more curious patrons inside.
Madeline sat nearby, smiling as she praised him.
Blake, I’m so grateful you remember everything I’ve ever said. I’m glad we can have a future together. You know, my last marriage wasn’t happy. Only when I was suffering did I realize you were the one who was best to me…”
Her gaze gradually became intimate, her words softer.
Blake, I know you don’t want to be with me right now because of Charlotte’s situation. We can take it slow…”
is she spoke, there was a sudden crash as something fell.

his scene triggered his memory. That day, he had clearly seen Charlotte’s dress hem trapped under the chandelier, yet she hadn’t tried to free erself.
mmediately, the restaurant erupted in chaos. With such a major accident, no one had any interest in eating or drinking anymore. People were taking hotos and hurling insults.
Such a huge chandelier just fell down! The quality of this place is seriously concerning!”
I remember now–this same restaurant had an identical accident before. Can’t believe the owner hasn’t learned their lesson. Do they just love using hoddy materials?”
Who’s the manager? Come out!”
s the person in charge, Madeline was immediately singled out. She hadn’t expected the same accident to happen so quickly and instinctively looked > Blake for help.
Blake, help me, I didn’t mean for this to happen…”
he expected him to stand in front of her without hesitation like last time, shielding her from everything. But when she turned, she only saw confusion n his eyes.
le seemed lost in memories, unresponsive to her calls. As the crowd grew increasingly agitated, Madeline bit her lip, running out of places to retreat.
She shouted with a tearful voice.
‘Blake! What are you thinking about?!”
Her cry pulled him back to reality. Seeing the urgent situation, perhaps out of instinct, he quickly pulled the trapped Madeline into his embrace.
But the wronged woman wasn’t satisfied with just this. She cried as she pounded his shoulders.

“Defend me! How dare these people criticize me?”
Blake paused. Last time, in the same situation. Charlotte had been struck by the chandelier due to the restaurant’s poor-quality materials and nearly lost her life. Yet Madeline still hadn’t learned her lesson
His lips trembled. He said nothing, only silently holding the woman in his arms, trying his best to shield her from being photographed.
But with so many onlookers, the situation escalated quickly. His meager protection was useless.
