My crippled 7

My crippled 7

Chapter 7

Savannah grew more furious with every word. “Even if I had to marry a toilet, I still wouldn’t marry that cripple. Don’t ever call me again!”

The line went dead. Jeremiah looked at me with hope in his eyes.

“When is Savannah coming?”

I froze.

Only then did I realize I had forgotten to put the call on speaker.

“She’s on her way. Just hang in there a bit longer.”

His stomach rumbled like thunder. Humiliated, he lowered his head toward me.

“For the sake of our years together, help me one last time. Once Savannah gets here, I won’t trouble you again.”

“I’ll even give you more money after the divorce.”

I checked the time. “Sorry, I’ve got another appointment.”

As I stepped out the door, I heard an explosive burst of diarrhea, followed by his furious roar.

“Diana, you bitch! I’ll kill you!”

It was my first day at work, and everything went smoothly.

Lilith had somehow unearthed my past work and rushed over, eyes sparkling with excitement.

“Sister Diana, so it was you all along, the genius designer who vanished without a word! Why didn’t you say so sooner?”

I gave a light smile. “That’s all in the past now.”

Her joy was impossible to hide.

“I’ve struck gold this time.”

“Starting today, the company will assign you a car and driver. I hope you’ll shine just as brilliantly as before. You’ve got this!”

In my heart, I silently replied: I will without a doubt.

Later in the day, I received a call from my father-in-law. They wanted to come see Jeremiah.

By the time I got home, the two of them were already standing at the door.

My mother-in-law gave me an awkward smile. “How’s Jeremiah been lately?”

“He’s always had a temper. We spoiled him growing up. As his wife, you need to be more understanding and not let wild thoughts cloud your judgment, alright?”

“Of course, I know you’re kindhearted. You’d never abandon him… or Jaxon.”

My father-in-law cleared his throat. “I’ll talk to him later, tell him to treat you right.”

In my past life, they bound me with so-called morals, until I died with my eyes wide open.

But this time, I wouldn’t give them the chance.

“Come in and see for yourselves.”

As I pushed open the door, all three of us froze.

The room was a disaster, filthy, chaotic, and reeking. Every visible surface had been smeared with excrement.

My son cowered in a corner, looking like he’d just seen a ghost.

“Mom! You’re finally back! Dad’s gone crazy, please help!”

He dashed toward me, arms wide to hug me, but I stepped back with a frown and dodged him.

Tears burst from his eyes. “Mom, I’m your son! I haven’t eaten all day. Are you going to ignore me, too?”

Jeremiah, still facing the wall, suddenly let out a slow, eerie laugh.

“Diana, you really are heartless. Trying to starve your own husband to death?”

“If I can’t live in peace… then none of you will either.”

He suddenly spun around, a kitchen knife clutched tightly in his hand.

Just as he raised it to strike, his gaze landed on his stunned parents.

‘Dad, Mom!”

My mother-in-law opened her mouth to comfort him, but no words came. She turned to me

nstead.

‘Diana, no matter how busy you are, meals still have to be cooked. If not, Jeremiah and Jaxon will starve.”

nodded calmly. “You’re absolutely right. There’s rice and flour in the kitchen, go ahead and cook.”

She fell silent, her expression stiff.

My father-in-law stepped in with a frown. “If you don’t have time, then at least hire someone. People can’t live without food.”

nodded again, spreading my hands.

Your son used up every cent in this house to pay the hospital. You both have pensions. Isn’t it only fair that you hire a maid to look after him?”
