“Adelaide, are you hurt?” Reginald grabbed her arms and looked
her up and down with a serious expression.
Hearing his voice, Adelaide’s heart sank to the bottom of her

The man over there was already taken care of by Nathan.
Reginald helped her up, “Sure?”
Adelaide nodded, “Him.”
Nathan took off the other person’s mask and hat, saw his face
clearly, then turned to Reginald and reported, “Mr. Thorton,
don’t know him.”
Reginald asked coldly, “Just spit it out.”
Nathan nodded, took the other person, and led them directly to

Reginald took off his coat and draped it over Adelaide. “Lucky”
Upon hearing those two words, Adelaide could feel a sigh of
relief escape him heavily, knowing for sure that she was okay.
Adelaide’s face flushed slightly, trying to shift away from the
inexplicable sense of ambiguity, “Mr. Thorton, why did you
come back?”
Reginald: “You were still working overtime.” ?
Adelaide blinked, “Overtime… not very normal.”
Reginald raised his eyebrows and stared at her, “I said before
that overtime hours and location are optional, you don’t need to
work late at the office.”
“I was afraid of losing my train of thought, so I chose to work
overtime at the company,” Adelaide spoke the truth.
She didn’t expect that the first time she worked overtime, she
would encounter such bad luck.
Before long, Nathan came out.
“Mr. Thorton hired him. He said he was a former employee of
the Ashley Group. Originally, the Logan Group’s project was for

the Ashley Group, but we intercepted it. He had been staking
out here for several days, staking out Ms. Pierce.”
Adelaide heard this, looking innocent.

Nathan cleared his throat and continued, “Because lately

Thorton, so trying to ruin her would be like getting back at
you!”
Adelaide stayed silent, seemed to make some sense.
She was curious about how far the news had spread outside.
Reginald’s face turned even uglier: “The security guards on duty tonight were all fired. Keep pressing him, he hasn’t finished
talking.”
“Yeah.””
Reginald picked up his phone, tablet, and bag, turned his face
and said, “Let’s go.”
Adelaide reached out her hand, “Mr. Thorton, I’ll take it myself.”

“…I’m fine.” Adelaide had just finished saying this when Reginald grabbed her wrist and pulled her forward.
Adelaide was surprised: “Mr. Thorton, I can walk by myself.”

“Came prepared.”
With that said, Adelaide seemed to understand why Reginald wanted to fire the security personnel tonight.
If he wasn’t coming for her, but for Orvenix Group, and if he
managed to infiltrate the top levels and access confidential
information, I reckon Orvenix Group would be in for a storm.
This person was pretty awesome.
