“Alright!” Finley’s head was pounding, “Egbert is my friend’s son,
be nice to him.”
Adelaide sneered, “Dad, I’m not your biological daughter. I
remember all these years of raising me. If you feel that I don’t fit
in with the Pierce family anymore, you can just be honest and
say it.”
“On one hand, I gave up Garrett for Amanda. We haven’t even
gotten our divorce certificates yet, and you’re already rushing
to find me a blind date. Don’t you think you’re being too pushy?”
“Since they really don’t like me that much, I’m cutting ties with
the Pierce family. I’ll pay back every penny they spent on me.
And from now on, I won’t set foot in the Pierce’s place again.”
“What’s the divorce cooling–off period?” Egbert seemed to have
heard some big gossip, “Did you really marry Garrett?”
“Adelaide!” Finley’s face turned from red to blue.
Adelaide stood in front of Egbert, “Yeah, Garrett and I haven’t
finished our cool–off period yet. You’ve been chosen to be my
backup.”
“No, me?” Egbert was always a fun–loving guy, but he never

Adelaide looked at Finley, whose face was already colorful, and
said, “Dad, if you’re not avoiding me because you’re afraid I’ll
steal Garrett back, don’t worry. There are plenty of men out
there, I can find one myself.”
“Besides breaking up with me, I hope you all don’t contact me
anymore. Goodbye.”
Adelaide left decisively after saying her final words.
Finley rolled his eyes and almost passed out. He pointed at
Spencer standing there like a statue and urged, “What are you
waiting for? Go get her back for me!”
Spencer’s gaze turned cold at the moment, “Is he really the blind date you set up for Adele?”
“Is it your turn to question me here? Go chase after him!” Finley
was furious.
After Spencer was determined, he didn’t pay attention to his
father’s words and went straight to Egbert.
“Mr. Jennings, let’s go chat for a bit.”

and attack him without even saying thanks?”
“No,” Adelaide said, “How can you be so sure that I can solve this
problem?”
“Maybe you couldn’t do it before, but you definitely can now.
Otherwise, how did you end up working for Reginald?” Lucas
said confidently, “Come on, tell me, how did you solve it?”
Adelaide didn’t go into details, just let Egbert know that she and

“Was Spence not there?”
Adelaide heard him say that and knew what he meant. “Yeah,
I’m in.”
Lucas laughed hysterically, “Absolutely amazing, right?”
Adelaide kinda believed Reginald now, and Lucas probably
stopped seeing Spencer as a friend a long time ago.
After a while, she said two words: “Thank you.”
Lucas laughed and said, “No big deal, just don’t forget our
agreement.”
“Yeah, no.”
The phone hung up, she went back to the office. She returned
the car keys to Nathan and focused on hér work.
