Chapter 54
The assistant feigned ignorance and pressed on.
“Miss Sinclair, Master Sylvan is awaiting your performance. It will be your chance to showcase your true talent.”
His message delivered, the assistant offered a polite smile and retreated.
Rosie fell silent, the weight of everyone’s astonished gazes on her.
‘Master Sylvan,’ she thought, her heart pounding. The mentor I’ve always dreamed of
A sliver of doubt entered her mind. Did he really notice me? Or did the assistant make a mistake? I’ve never even met Master Sylvan
The thought flickered for a second before she stamped it out. Rosie shook her head slightly. Whatever is happening, I have
play along. I can’t let them laugh at me
to
Kevin Sinclair’s eyes gleamed with undisguised ambition, his hands trembling as he gripped Rosie’s arms.
“My girl, why didn’t you tell me you knew Master Sylvan? I would’ve invited all my business partners. They need to see how brilliant you are.”
Rosie’s expression faltered for a moment. She knew her father’s ‘partners‘ were just a bunch of his sleazy cronies.
One of them had even cornered her once, eyeing her like a piece of meat while pretending to help her drunk father home. She couldn’t stand any of them.
But she hid her disgust behind a sweet smile, looking up at Kevin with feigned modesty.
“Daddy, I didn’t even know Master Sylvan remembered me. I promise I’ll do my best. I’ll make the Sinclair family proud.”
Kevin beamed, nodding enthusiastically. “That’s my girl. A true Sinclair?
Just then, Zina walked up, her brow furrowing as she overheard the exchange.
‘He’s really laying it on thick, Zina thought with a scowl.
‘But when did Master Sylvan ever meet Rosie? Is she really that good?
“Why am I just hearing about this now?
‘Or have I been away so long that his standards have completely plummeted?
“What are you doing here?”
Avery Sinclair turned her head and gasped, her face draining of color when she saw Zina.
Zina’s expression soured. “What’s the matter? Is this place reserved for you?”
She shrugged, a picture of nonchalance.
