Chapter 80
The narrow alley was packed and cluttered, making it tough to weave through.
Iris ran, sweat–drenched, her hair plastered to her face as she gasped for breath, but she didn’t dare stop for even a second.
Unsure if anyone was still on her trail, she kept running desperately forward.
The path ahead suddenly brightened, and a relieved smile flashed across her face.
But in the very next instant, shadows abruptly swallowed her vision.
“How did you get here?” Iris stammered, her eyes wide with terror, her voice trembling.
All traces of her initial joy at seeing Chris was replaced by overwhelming dread.
She instinctively tried to run in the opposite way, but another figure emerged from the alley behind her, cutting off her
escape.
“Well, well, looks like you’d rather run into me, huh?” Zina teased, clicking her tongue playfully.
She blinked, a sly glint flickering in her eyes.
At the same time, Chris stepped in, boxing Iris into the narrow space.
“Miss Taylor, what were you running for? It was just a scratch on my car. Couldn’t you have just paid for it? Now we’ve had to go through all this trouble just to catch you!”
His voice was filled with irritation, and facing Iris only made his anger intensify.
Not only were their plans disrupted by Iris, but they were also dragged to the police station due to her running off.
“I didn’t offend you. Please, just let me off this time,” Iris pleaded, tears welling in her eyes as she gazed imploringly at Chris.
“Oh, come on, handsome, I really have other urgent things to take care of. Besides, it’s not like you’ve suffered any loss…”
“Save that for the cops,” Zina said coolly.
With that, she stepped aside, revealing the police officers standing right behind her.
With Iris taken into custody, Zina and Chris also found themselves reluctantly heading to the police station.
Zina composed herself and recounted the incident to the police.
The female officer opposite Zina gave her a sympathetic look. When the questioning concluded, she shook her head with pity once again.
“Don’t worry too much. We just need to get your statement about the incident. This woman is more than meets the eye. We suspect she may be connected to several recent cases.”
Zina blinked with curiosity.

But the officer didn’t elaborate, and Zina knew better than to press further.
After leaving the interrogation room, she spotted Chris outside.
Chris‘ eyes lit up as he strode toward her.
“Boss, it’s finally over!” he called out.
“Yes.” Zina gave a slight nod. Then she noticed the arresting officer approaching Chris with a stern expression.
“Sir,” the male officer said sternly. “We’ve confirmed that Iris is a repeat offender who frequently stages car accidents to commit fraud. You haven’t suffered any financial loss, have you?”
Chris turned to meet Zina’s gaze, his pupils contracting sharply. After a beat, he replied deliberately. “No”
The male officer breathed a sigh of relief. That’s a relief. Thanks to your call, you’re free to go now
As they stepped out of the police station, Zina still found this happening incredible.
“Did we just do a good deed by accident?” she muttered.
“Guess so.” Chris frowned. “My gut was right–I knew there was something off about that woman.”
“Let’s head back to the Base. None of this concerns us anymore.”
