Chapter 85
“There are so many secrets about the Sinclair family that you don’t know–but I know them all,” Iris teased, her tone full of temptation. “Aren’t you even a little curious?”
Her voice, dripping with seduction, wrapped itself around Zina’s ears.
Zina arched an eyebrow and smiled, her fingers drumming lightly on the tabletop.
“Now you’ve got my attention..
“But then, how do I know you’re not lying to me?”
“I’m not lying to you! I swear!” Iris pleaded desperately.
She strained desperately against her restraints, trying to inch forward, but failed with her whole body cuffed to the chair. The handcuffs clinked with a clear, metallic sound.
Zina clapped her hands, signaling for Iris to calm down.
“Alright, I’ll give you a chance. Tell me exactly how you got in touch with Rosie and what she told you. If your answer satisfies me, I just might consider getting you out of here. And you know–when I say something, I have the means to back it up.
Her unwavering tone lit a dangerous spark in Iris’s gaze.
Iris was just about to speak when a sudden thought struck her. Her eyes narrowed with suspicion.
“How can you possibly guarantee you’ll get me out of here? You and your sister are both liars! Do you think it’s fun to toy with me like this?”
Zina frowned, picking up on the meaning behind Iris’s words. “Why would you say that?”
Iris scoffed and turned her head away. “After how Rosie screwed me over, why should I trust either of you?”
Zina slammed her phone onto the table, arching an eyebrow. “Let’s cut the crap–you’re just after money, aren’t you?
“Follow my orders, and I can give you everything you want.”
Iris blinked, her gaze locked on the staggering string of zeros displayed on the phone screen. Instinctively, she bit down hard on her lower lip.
“Fine. I’ll talk,” she said.
*****When Zina emerged from the interrogation room again, an hour had already elapsed.
Chris wasn’t in the lobby, and there wasn’t even a single familiar face in sight.
Just as she was about to call Chris, she heard his voice behind, “Boss, you’re done in there?”
Chris had just stepped out of the side room, with Liam close behind.

Chapter 85
The moment he saw Zina, his face lit up with eager delight.
“Let’s go,” Zina said curtly.
She deliberately ignored the curious look Liam shot her, gave Chris a reassuring pat on the shoulder, and strode straight for the exit.
Chris cast a hesitant glance at Liam, as if he wanted to say something but held back, then hurried after Zina.
In the car, just as Chris was about to speak, Zina glanced up and suddenly asked, “What do you think of Liam?”
“He seems like a pretty righteous and meticulous guy,” Chris said, “but somehow, he gives off this naive vibe. It’s not just when he’s handling cases–he tends to jump to conclusions, no matter how big or small the case is, and his personal emotions cloud his judgment. That’s why he’s really not cut out for interrogating suspects.”
As he finished, be turned back to Zina with a puzzled look.
“Boss, are you interested in Liam too?”
“Not really,” Zina replied, withdrawing her gaze and resuming her usual detached demeanor, as if nothing around her warranted her attention.
“I just feel there’s something off about the look in his eyes when he looks at me.”
That conflicting mix of curiosity and resistance in his eyes made her wonder if he had seen her before.
Such contradictory emotions in a person always piqued her interest.
She had seen that same look before–Kellan had it, and now Liam did too.
Chris pressed his lips together, unsure of what to say, so he simply continued driving
In the distance, the setting sun dipped below the horizon, painting half the sky in fiery hues.
