The patient on the bed remained tense and rigid. Without another word, Zina completed her preparations and began the surgical procedure.
Outside the room, Miles sat rigidly on a chair, fighting back a cough, his eyes bloodshot from worry as he waited anxiously.
Time crept by, and the doctors waiting outside finally lost their patience, breaking into hushed, anxious discussion.
“What’s going on? Can that lady even handle this?”
“Mr. Quinn just let her go in and treat Mr. Cain? Never mind if this makeshift OR is even sterile enough–she’s just so young. At her age, none of us would dare perform a surgery single–handedly.”
“She really has no idea of her own limits.”
“That’s enough, Miles snapped, unable to contain his irritation.
Already on edge, listening to their incessant chatter only made him more agitated.
But there was nothing more he could say. Even now, he was staking everything on this desperate gamble.
He was betting that Zina would succeed and that Cain would pull through.
‘But could a gamble like this really pay off?‘ he wondered.
Miles fell silent, his gaze locked on the operating room door, waiting without moving an inch.
“Mr. Miles, he’s back. Mr. Sylvan is back,” a voice exclaimed.
The security guard came panting, not even pausing to catch his breath before exclaiming with shining eyes.
A flash of delight crossed Miles’s face. He quickly said, “Bring Mr. Sylvan in, quickly.”
“No need to rush, I’m here,” Wade replied, striding in.
He had already changed into a tailored suit. He walked over briskly and came to a steady stop in front of Miles.
“What’s the situation inside? Where’s Zina?” Wade asked.
“She’s still in the room, conducting the procedure,” Miles replied.
Miles pressed his lips together, his heart pounding wildly–he could barely hear his own voice.
Wade nodded, his gaze sweeping over the doctors nearby. He asked, puzzled, “Then who’s assisting her?”
“Well, Miss Sinclair said she didn’t need anyone,” he said. Panic rose in Miles’s heart. “Mr. Sylvan, do you think Miss Sinclair can handle it alone?”
“This is preposterous,” he snapped. Wade’s face changed instantly, brows furrowing. “How could she possibly manage a surgery by herself? I’ve seen your equipment room. It’s nowhere near adequate

Having said this. Wade suddenly paused. “Wait, something’s off. I can see the problem, and there’s no way Zina wouldn’t. What is she really trying to do?”
Wade fell silent, his brows tightly knit, clearly baffled.
Immersed in his world, Wade didn’t even notice Miles, who was already swaying unsteadily beside him, muttering under his breath, “Something’s wrong. Very wrong”
Miles’s face was drained of all color, his fingers digging into the phone as if he could drive them right through it.
Cain’s face kept flashing through his mind. Back then, his soft little hand clung to Miles’s sleeve as Cain looked up and spoke with a bright smile.
Suddenly, his thoughts snapped back. Only then did Miles realize he’d pinched his fingers so hard they’d turned purple. almost drawing blood.
Miles checked his phone. It had only been a little over an hour since Zina had entered that room,
“Mr. Sylvan, what do you think the chances of success are? At last, Miles voiced the question.
Wade hesitated, just about to answer, when suddenly the door swung open and a frail figure emerged, leaning heavily on the
doorframe.
