The doctors, like hungry wolves that had just found their prey, had their eyes glued to Zina, as if they wished they could latch onto her and never let go.
Zina replied calmly. “That will depend on his recovery. If all goes well, he should wake up today.”
Zina gave her most conservative prognosis, yet the shock among those around her was palpable.

“Whoa, I’ve never seen anyone recover so quickly after brain surgery. Are you sure they’ll really wake up tonight?”
“Hey, you’d better trust what the Doctor says, or she might just ignore you next time.”
That’s so amazing. None of us would dare make such a bold guarantee.”
The others‘ voices showed no restraint, and Zina couldn’t help but feel a little flattered. She quickly cleared her throat to compose herself before turning her attention back to Andy.
Zina replied calmly. There shouldn’t be any complications. We’ll monitor his condition tonight.”
“I trust you completely, Doctor.” Andy thumped his chest emphatically, grinning from ear to ear.
No sooner had Andy finished speaking than Gus, along with his team of doctors, swarmed around Zina.
By the time Zina finally extricated herself from the swarm of doctors, over an hour had slipped away.
Her cheeks, which had still been rosy, now appeared noticeably paler.
She had barely taken two steps when Gus’s voice called out to her again. A wave of visceral dread washed over Zina, but she could only force a strained smile as she looked at the man before her.
“What is it, Mr. Logan?” said Zina.
Zina couldn’t help but worry, ‘What if Mr. Logan suddenly started firing off more complex questions?” she wondered.
Unexpectedly, Gus suddenly managed a slightly awkward grin, then leaned in conspiratorially and whispered, “Miss Sinclair, you see, our hospital hasn’t had a truly capable doctor for ages.
“Springvale’s medical resources are quite limited. Your arrival here is like a godsend. So, I was wondering if you considered staying when we offered you a generous compensation package?”
“Stay?” Zina shook her head. “I’ve got a lot on my plate. It’d be tough for me to stay.”
“I see,” he said. Gus slumped in dejection. Despite his advanced age, he looked like an abandoned child, pitifully forlorn.
Zina sighed helplessly and relented, “Well, I might be able to spare some time each week for remote consultations
“That works. That absolutely works,” Gus exclaimed eagerly, not wanting to give her a chance to change her mind before Zina could finish speaking.
After Gus had held her up for another ten minutes or so, Zina finally re–entered the ward, which had now fallen silent.

Chapter 104
Wade sat on a chair nearby, scribbling something in a notebook.
Andy had vanished, leaving only a few bodyguards behind–their sole duty now to stand watch over the post–op patient.
The moment Zina entered, the bodyguards withdrew in unison, as if on cue.
Zina walked over to Wade, frowning slightly. “When are we getting out of here?”
So far, she hadn’t found any useful leads. And now that Kellan had shown up in Springvale, she was really worried her cover might be blown.
Even though she used some temporary tricks to hide her gender last time, to Kellan, these were just amateur tricks. Sooner or later, he would see right through her.
“If Kellan ever finds out who I really am, there’s no telling what he might do. With him, anything’s possible–and none of it good, Zina thought.
After all, Zina’s past relationship with Kellan was still quite the talk of the town
