Chapter 111
Zina took it all in, a knowing smile playing on her lips.
“Alright, let’s begin the session,” Zina said calmly. As she spoke, she was about to start the hypnosis.
Just then, Andy strode over.
He stepped forward and said, “Miss Sinclair, something urgent just came up–I need to take him with me for a moment. Would you mind putting the hypnosis session on hold?”
Andy put on such a convincing show of sincerity that, for a fleeting moment, even Zina was momentarily dazed.
Putting away her pocket watch, Zina gave a slight nod and gestured toward Wade. “So, should we go together?”
“That won’t be necessary.” Andy hastily waved his hand, his smile tinged with unease. “You’ve just arrived in Springvale, right? I bet you’re not too familiar with the area yet. I can have one of my people show you
around.”
“That’s quite alright, Mr. Wood. We’ll just wander around by ourselves–no need to trouble you,” Zina smiled.
Zina met Andy’s gaze with equally feigned sincerity. For a moment, Andy seemed torn, but in the end, he gritted his teeth and gave in. “So, we’ll be in touch by phone then?”
“Alright.” Zina replied with a smile, watching as Andy led the driver away.
Feeling a gentle tug on her sleeve, Zina turned, only to find that Wade had somehow appeared beside her without her noticing
Wade lowered his voice and asked directly, “You noticed something, didn’t you?”
Zina didn’t answer, her eyes locked on the doorway.
A figure flickered past–barely noticeable, but it didn’t escape Zina’s keen eyes.
After confirming the figure had completely vanished, Zina whispered into Wade’s ear, “Let’s get out of here first. I’ve got a bad feeling about Andy”
‘Sometimes, I really don’t get it–why does Wade always have so many snakes around him? she wondered, Is he just a magnet for toxic people or what?”
Zina shook her head, clearing away these thoughts, though her gaze toward Wade now held even deeper sympathy.
Wade’s eyes went wide in bewilderment as he stared at Zina, utterly at a loss..
Zina gently patted Wade’s back twice, letting out a quiet sigh near his ear. “Don’t worry. It’s just what happens as you get older
Zina was not even sure if those words were meant to comfort Wade or just herself.
When leaving the office, Zina didn’t head straight for the elevators. Instead, she lingered, carefully scanning every corner of the floor to fully grasp its layout.

A normal company would be bustling with people coming and going, every department humming with employees hard at
work.
But as Zina walked down the ninth–floor hallway, there was none of the usual hustle and bustle or tension one an office. Just an eerily subdued atmosphere that felt unnaturally flat.

The atmosphere was unnaturally flat, as if no one cared about their performance, their clients, or even whether the boss showed up. Everyone just went about their tasks like clockwork, mechanically carrying on with their own business.
In an instant, a few words popped into Zina’s mind. The Truman Show, she wondered.
This place felt like a pre–programmed system, forever sustaining that central illusion.
“What exactly is Andy using this place for?‘ Zina wondered. Once again, she fell silent.
As the elevator doors slid open, Zina followed Wade out onto the lower floor.
Just as Zina was about to leave to investigate Andy further, a figure suddenly darted out from nowhere, rushing toward the elevator–only to accidentally trip her.
By the time Zina regained her composure, the elevator doors had already slid shut. She could only manage a wry twist of her lips.
‘I just can’t catch a break with this place, Zina thought to herself.
Zina reached into her pocket, just as she was about to leave, when her fingers brushed against something unexpected. She
froze.
