Chapter 124
Zina snapped at Sean, “What are you standing there for? Let’s go.”
She shot an exasperated look at the dumbstruck driver before her. Without wasting another moment, she grabbed the driver’s arm and hauled him outside.
Zina had Chris lure Andy away on the pretext of company business–after all, those shady dealings were definitely not something Andy would blurt out in a public hallway.
Most likely. Andy would find an empty room or head outside to a secluded spot to make the call.
This brief window, while Andy was on the phone, was exactly the opportunity Zina had been waiting for.
Zina silently calculated how much time they had left. Her frown deepened as she whispered urgently, “Hurry up. You don’t want to die here, do you?”
The driver finally snapped out of his daze, scanning the unfamiliar surroundings with blank eyes, constantly gulping.
Sweat streamed uncontrollably from his palms, yet he trailed after the person ahead like a puppet on strings, unable to stop himself
Even after they’d both gotten into the white van, the driver still couldn’t process what had just happened–everything felt utterly surreal
“Don’t be shocked just yet. I still have something I need to ask you, Zina said, her tone calm but commanding.
As she spoke, she reached over and gave Chris a firm pat on the shoulder. “Chris, drive, she ordered.
The van lurched forward abruptly, jolting the driver back to reality. “You- he stammered.
“Your name?” Zina cut him off with a silencing gesture, getting straight to the point.
The driver paused, then quickly blurted out, “My name’s Sean Ford.”
Zina nodded, her gaze sharpening. “This is important, so I need you to be completely honest with me. Did your family experience a major incident five years ago?”
Sean stammered, his eyes widening in shock. “H–How do you know that?”
Sean’s eyes instantly went wide as he stared at the woman before him, a look of shock and terror on his face.
For a split second, Sean truly thought the woman before him was no ordinary person.
Sean thought to himself, “Why did she go out of her way to bring me into this van? She must have an ulterior motive!
Just as expected, Zina’s expression hardened in an instant.
Zina fixed Sean with a steely gaze. “Who exactly was the family member involved back then? I need every detail of what happened. Make no mistake–right now, I’m your only way out.”
A flash of shock crossed Sean’s eyes, but he quickly composed himself. Pursing his lips in thought for a few seconds, his eyes

soon hardened with determination.
“It was my brother,” Sean began, his voice heavy with grief. “He was rushing home on the highway when the accident happened a hit–and–run. My brother died instantly.
“His wife was pregnant at the time; when she heard the terrible news, she fainted right away. Later, we learned they’d caught the hit–and–run driver and sent him to prison. We thought that was the end of it.
“But somehow, during the funeral at home, a fire broke out, and his wife never made it out. Just like that, our perfectly good family was gone.”
Sean’s voice grew increasingly subdued, but Zina didn’t miss the fleeting flicker of hatred deep in his eyes.
“What else?” Zina’s tone was sharp. “Don’t hold anything back. I want the whole truth.”
Sean clenched his fists, eyeing Zina warily. “Who the hell are you? What do you want with me?”
Zina shook her head slightly, for the first time allowing a trace of weariness to show in her eyes.
I’m a victim too. I was the one who went to prison, but the hit–and–run driver wasn’t me. It was my sister,” she said.
