After finally managing to get his emotions under control, Miles took a deep breath and gently crouched down to Cain’s level. looking into his eyes. “Cain,” he said softly, “next time something like this happens, please check with me first, okay?”
“But you’re always so busy, big brother. I didn’t want to bother you. Cain looked up, a hint of tears welling in his eyes. Though just a child, his expression was remarkably stubborn.
Miles froze in place, his heart pounding uncontrollably in his chest.
“Cain,” Miles said gently, “to your big brother, you’ll always be the most important.”
Zina quietly slipped out of the room, leaving Miles and Cain the time and space they needed to finally have a real conversation after so long.
Stepping into the corridor, Zina scanned her surroundings, finally hoticing something amiss.
Ever since Zina arrived, there had been this lingering, odd smell in the corridor.
She had always rushed past in such a hurry that she never really paid attention to the strange smell lingering in the air. But now that she finally had a moment to herself, the scent became distinctly noticeable–impossible to ignore..
In the distance, a figure approached, and Zina recognized him as Miles’s assistant.
A flash of delight crossed Zina’s eyes as she quickly grabbed his arm.
“Miss Sinclair?” Assistant Zack Murphy inclined his head respectfully. “Is there something you need?”
“Well, who’s been keeping this corridor so spotless? I’d love to know more about the cleaning arrangements, Zina smiled gently.
Zack was momentarily stunned, realizing his gaffe. He quickly stepped back a bit from Zina, then, with an apologetic tone, said, “Miss Sinclair, I’ll look into this for you right away.”
Zina nodded and settled in to wait.
A few minutes later, Zack came rushing over, nearly out of breath, with a uniformed maid trailing behind him.
Upon seeing Zina, the maid nervously wiped her hands on her apron, instinctively lowered her head, and spoke in a voice. barely above a whisper.
The maid stammered, “M–Miss Sinclair, did you call me for something?”
Zina didn’t speak right away. She sized up the maid from head to toe before offering a warm smile. “I just wanted to compliment you on how impeccably you keep this place.
“Would you be interested in working for me at my home? The Quinn family won’t mind, and I can offer you even better compensation.”
“M–Miss Sinclair,” the maid stammered, her face visibly stiff as she nervously wrung her hands. “Miss, I’ve served the Quinn family for so many years and know this place inside out. I’d really prefer to stay with them. I hope you’ll allow me to.”

Chapter 134
“I see. Very well then. Disappointment flickered across Zina’s face, but she didn’t press further. With a dismissive wave of her hand, she let the maid go.
The maid, visibly relieved, nodded profusely and scurried away.
Taking it all in, Zina curved her lips slightly and glanced at Zack. “Let’s go see your Mr. Quinn first”
Inside the room, both Miles and Cain were flushed from head to toe. Though what exactly they had said remained a mystery, the atmosphere between them had grown noticeably warmer and more intimate.
Zina nodded, quite pleased.
Of course, this heartwarming moment would have been perfect if that tactless Zack hadn’t come along and ruined it, Zina thought.
Somehow, Zack had made his way over to Miles and rudely wedged himself between the two brothers, fixing Miles with a self–righteous, earnest look
“Mr. Quinn, about the company?” Zack began. “Mr. Murphy, you’re in the middle of something here. Is what you need to say urgent?”
Miles felt a flicker of annoyance, yet his voice remained gentle.
