Chapter 8
I looked up to see John, his face twisted with rage.
“How dare you touch my child?”
His voice was ice–cold. “Guards! Lock this animal up!”
Though Dylan hadn’t actually touched me, the shock of that moment still triggered complications with my pregnancy.

I was rushed to the hospital, with John keeping vigil outside my room without leaving for even a moment.
Three days later, I lay in the VIP ward for my prenatal checkup.
When the doctor walked in with the test results, his face lit up with a delighted smile.
“Congratulations, Mr. Shaw. It’s triplets, all boys.”
John was so excited his hands were trembling. He gripped my hand tightly. “Wendy, do you realize? We’re going to have three
sons!”
Leaning against the headboard, I said softly, “Three isn’t enough. I want to give you many more in the future.”
His eyes grew misty as he leaned down to stroke my hair. “Wendy, how can you be so wonderful?”

Before I could respond, he pulled out a document from his suit jacket.
“I had my lawyer prepare this. Five percent of Sullivan family shares–they’re yours as of today.”
I was stunned.
Sullivan family shares had always been precious. Even Dylan, his own son, didn’t have a single percent yet.
And now he was willing to give me, an outsider, five percent.
Looking into his earnest eyes, I felt a pang in my heart.
He had always been so good to me.
In my previous life, whenever Dylan went too far, it was John who stood up for me.
Yet he still died in that car accident.
“Honey, I had a nightmare last night.”
I grabbed his hand. “I dreamed you were in a car accident because of brake failure…”
“Silly girl.“. He chuckled. “You’re just being overly sensitive because of the pregnancy.”

But I insisted, “You must check your car every time you go out, especially the brakes. My intuition is always right.”
He affectionately tapped my nose.
“Alright, I don’t believe in superstitions, but since you’ve said it, I’ll definitely do as you ask.”
Meanwhile, overseas, Dylan and Lily were living through hell.
To prevent Dylan from doing anything else to harm my children, John had sent them to an overseas branch office for training.
Before they left, I even “kindly” reminded John to let them get their marriage license first, to fulfill the wishes of the lovebirds.
John readily agreed.
Once overseas, Dylan hit roadblocks everywhere, making no progress in his career.
He took out all his frustrations on Lily, alternating between beating and berating her.
At first, Lily didn’t dare fight back, silently enduring his abuse.
But after being beaten repeatedly, she began to resist, and the two often ended up in mutual combat, both getting injured.

During one particularly heated argument, Dylan accidentally discovered that it was Lily who had drugged him that day!
Her image of being “pure and innocent” in his mind completely shattered.
“It was you! You’re the one who drugged me!”
Dylan pointed at Lily, roaring in fury.
Lily shot back defiantly, “So what if it was?”
“You seemed pretty happy about it, didn’t you?”
Dylan was stunned. He had always thought that night was orchestrated by Wendy.
He never imagined the real mastermind was Lily.
“Why did you do it?” he asked in disbelief.
“Because I love you! I wanted to be Mrs. Sullivan–what’s wrong with that!”
Lily screamed hysterically.
Dylan suddenly felt nauseated. He had always thought Lily was pure and flawless.
He never expected she was no different from any other woman.

“You’re completely insane!”
He looked at her with disgust, then turned and walked away. From that point on, Dylan’s revulsion toward Lily only intensified, and their relationship hit rock bottom.
