Chapter 8

Like me? No. That’s impossible. Alpha Liam couldn’t possibly be interested in a woman who looked as ragged, broken, and thirsty for revenge as I did.

But why did that sentence bother me? It lingered like poison in my blood.

“I think you’re 100 percent wrong,” I replied quickly. Too quick.

Thorne raised an eyebrow. “He asked a lot about your childhood. About when you last smiled whether you still like honey, even about your favorite robe color when you used to play by the

iver.”

was speechless.

That… doesn’t mean anything,” I protested, pretending to busy myself with smoothing out my still slightly messy hair. “He also mentioned he already has a woman.”

Helena,” Thorne’s voice was calm but piercing. “He might be pretending for political reasons out his eyes can’t hide what he feels when he talks about you.”

turned my face away, staring out the healing window.

The morning breeze gently swayed the leaves. The world outside seemed peaceful, a stark contrast to the storm raging within me.

don’t need feelings. Not now.

All I need is to see Samuel on his knees, to see Liora’s face pale, to see the entire Silver Moor

ack torn apart by the shame they’ve brought upon themselves.

He’s just playing around,” I muttered softly. “Like he did last night. Cunning and annoying.”

But your face turned red when he mentioned the date,” Thorne replied calmly. “And you didn’ leny it.”

snorted. “That’s because he trapped me! He knew I was too serious, then played with me like vas a teenage girl just discovering love!”

‘horne suppressed a small laugh. “Maybe that’s exactly what he wanted. To bring out the old ou. Not the traitorous princess, not the outcast girl, not the woman destroyed by her own pack…

out the Helena of old.”

fell silent. Too many wounds to remember.

‘Forget it. It doesn’t matter,” I said finally. “Have you talked to him about our disguise tonight?” Thorne nodded. “He’s prepared everything. Two new identities, clothes, even a short script for us to use if anyone gets suspicious. We’ll pose as survivors from the north, carrying evidence of Silver Moon’s corruption.”

“Good.” I took a deep breath. “We’ll make sure Samuel loses everything tonight. His title. His reputation. His pack. And his disgusting ego.”

“Are you sure you don’t want Liam to know you’re suspicious of him too?” Thorne asked softly. “If he turns out to have a hidden agenda-”

“I’ll handle him.” My voice turned cold. “If he dares to betray the trust I’ve placed in him then he’l be the next target after Samuel.”

“But I think Alpha Liam isn’t like that. My instincts are strong.”

I didn’t listen to Thorne. I let him leave the room.

Then the night I’d been waiting for came quickly.

Alpha Liam entered my room. He’d planned everything meticulously.

‘Nice to see you back to life.”

ignored Alpha Liam’s taunt and focused. My chest was filled with vengeance.

We left Darkvenom quietly, wearing gray robes with hoods pulled tight. Our identities wer hidden, as if we were nobodies. Only two survivors came bearing important news.

We will succeed,” Liam said when we arrived.

His brief words warmed my heart.

The Silver Moon region was filled with torchlight and ritual music. At the center of the are tood a large circular stage, with a black wooden throne adorned with the emblem of the pack.

hat was where Samuel would be crowned.

Or so it was supposed to be.

he people began to gather. Wolves from other packs also arrived. All had come to witness th elebration said to symbolize new strength and honor.

It’s almost time,” Liam whispered beside me. “We must be there when he receives the Alph ymbol.”

nodded slowly. My heartbeat echoed in my ears.

lot far from the stage, I saw Liora. She wore a shimmering silver dress, standing beside Samue with that smug, holy smile I once admired.

1 every wolf’s eyes, she was the most loyal, purest woman. But she was poison with an angel’:

ace.

Samuel stood confidently, wearing his ceremonial cloak. His gaze swept over the crowd with

rrogance, as if the entire world had already bowed beneath his claws.

Soon after, the eldest elder ascended the stage.

Today we witness the inauguration of our new Alpha, Samuel, who has brought glory and victory.”

Samuel has also successfully driven out the traitor named Helena,” said Elder Elira, looking at her son with pride. “I hope all the clans will reject her presence if she crawls to beg you.”

My fist clenched tightly.

Traitor.

That word made my chest tighten. One by one, heads turned when my name was called. As if they couldn’t believe I had done such a heinous act.

My emotions were running high. But I stood tall in the crowd, unmoving.

“Therefore, we bestow upon him the true symbol of Alpha, the emblem of trust and strength of

the Silver Moon pack.”

And as the elder raised the symbol into the air, the main lights went out. Instantly, the entire ceremony field was plunged into darkness.

Then a thunderous voice boomed from the loudspeaker:

“Samuel is not an Alpha candidate. He is a power-hungry sycophant who has destroyed many packs from within.”

The spotlight flickered back on, but not toward the stage. Instead, it illuminated a high balcony. There stood an old gray-furred wolf, its eyes brimming with wounds and vengeance.

“My name is Aldric of the Tundrawolf Pack. And I am a living witness to how Silver Moon-under Samuel-betrayed us.”
