Chapter 11

Samuel

I know everything will get worse. All the Silver Moon Elders are angry with me. They no longer hide their disgust.

My confirmation as Alpha has been officially revoked. Struck from the records, as if I was never worthy of standing there in the first place.

“You have not only tarnished your own name. You’ve also defiled the blood of your ancestors, tarnished the name of the Silver Moon Pack. Do you know? We’ve lost the trust of the entire alliance! Some packs are even furious!”

Those were the last words the Elders spoke to me before they all turned their backs and left. I was left alone. Standing alone in the hall of honor, which now felt colder than a grave.

My anger peaked, burning my throat until it was difficult to breathe.

called my wolves.

‘Find the perpetrators who dared to do this!” I shouted, loud, sharp, full of fire. “Their fur, their breath, even the scent of their blood-I want it all brought to me!”

‘Yes!”

They set off immediately. But two days passed, and none of them returned with any results. Not a single trace. They came back with heads bowed.

No traces. Everything’s clean. Too neat. It’s like the work of a professional. As if… the culprit <nows how to erase traces like a ghost.”

That was their explanation. And it made me even angrier.

But I’m not the type to give up just because the wall is too slippery to climb.

started burning connections. In the pack world, that meant I spread the call to the hired rackers-cross-territory wolves known as shadow sniffers.

They weren’t bound to any pack, but they were paid to sniff out trails that had even been buried by time.

spent all the alliance energy I had. It was like sacrificing half our trained forces. But I didn’t care. I wanted those responsible brought to me. Dead or alive.

Still, the days passed… and the results were nil.

‘No trail. No clues,” they said.

As if the culprit were a shadow that never truly existed.

My body tensed. My jaw hardened.

“My son?” My mother entered the private room. Her face betrayed deep concern. “You look ill. I know you stayed up all night thinking about everything. But please, tonight, rest.”

I nodded slowly and smiled. Assuring my mother that I would be okay.

“You rest too. I won’t stay up all night tonight,” I said softly.

But in reality, I was lying.

All night my mind wandered, filled with various emotions. The wind blew cold, but my anger

burned much hotter.

And when all paths seemed closed, one name suddenly popped into my mind.

“Helena.”

Without realizing it, I murmured her name softly.

I stared at the night from the balcony of Alpha’s house, which no longer meant anything to me.

Suddenly, I wondered how Helena’s life was now. Without the silver moon pack, she must be shattered.

I called my wolf servant again.

‘Find out where Helena is now,” I murmured softly but sharply.

‘Is she alive, or has she been killed by the rogues? I want to know everything. Even the dust on her trail, bring it to me.”

They obeyed and left immediately.

Suddenly I wanted to know. Just that. Almost without reason.

was sure this time it would work. It was Helena’s problem. She was just an omega who would De easy to find.

As for Liora, I had done many things to persuade her. But it didn’t work at all. A luxury item, a special dinner-nothing could persuade Liora.

She was truly angry.

What confuses me is what to do, because Helena has never been like this before. She’s neve eally distanced herself from me.

Morning has come. I woke up in the same room because the door was roughly opened.

‘m very annoyed. Ready to scold whoever dared to enter without permission-

Liora,” I muttered. For a moment, my heart beat faster.

She hadn’t come to this room again since that incident. Since everything I had built collapsed. She stood in the doorway, her body straight, her hair neatly combed as usual.

Finally, you came to ask about my condition-”

“No.” Her eyes weren’t like before. Her gaze… was cynical. Far from the sweet Liora I once knew ‘Are your wolves still busy sniffing the ground?” she said flatly, leaning her body against the side of the door.

froze. I didn’t expect her first question to be so sharp. “Liora, why are you like this?”

She didn’t answer. Instead, she attacked again.

“Are you sure they’re looking for the culprit?” she continued. “Or are you just wasting time, as

usual?”

I clenched my fists. I wanted to argue, but I knew her tone wasn’t seeking an answer. She just wanted to hurt me. To bring me down further.

“I’m still gathering information. They need time, I finally replied, holding back my irritation.

23

Liora stepped in slowly. Her gaze swept the room, then landed on me. “Information?” She

smirked. “Remarkable. You spent alliance energy just to ‘gather information’? No results. No perpetrators. No evidence.”

I remained silent. Because I knew it was all true.

But that wasn’t what made my throat tighten.

It was the fact that I had told them to search for Helena. Secretly. Without my mother, Beta Kaylen, knowing.

And I couldn’t even let Liora know.
