I thought those three thugs and Chloe would face the full weight of the law once they were sent to the police station.
But I underestimated Scott-his cunning, and the way he could wriggle through legal
loopholes.
A few days later, my attorney informed me that, somehow, all three thugs had retracted their
statements during police interrogation.
In unison, they denied the previous accusations, claiming they had been “coerced into
confessing by the White family’s bodyguards,” and that their earlier testimonies were
“nonsense made under pressure.”
Chloe was even bolder-she flat-out refused to admit anything and painted herself as the
victim.
Key evidence conveniently fell apart:
There was no surveillance footage from the hotel suite to capture what happened;
Since I had fought them off before they succeeded, there was no trace of their DNA on me;
Instead, the injuries on the thugs-inflicted by our bodyguards-were perfectly documented.
In the end, the police ruled there was insufficient evidence to pursue charges of attempted
assault or false accusation.
All they could do was hold them a few days for disturbing the peace before letting them go.
I knew Scott’s hand was behind this.
In just three days, he was back at Collins Holdings, carrying on as if nothing had happened, still playing “President Collins.”
The day he got out, he sent me a long text message, dripping with false tenderness and condescension:
He claimed he had “never truly wanted a divorce,” that “everything was a misunderstanding,”

It made my skin crawl.
I blocked his number permanently without replying.
The very next day, Chloe posted a public update on her social media:
[Three weeks pregnant-can’t wait to be a mom! [heart] [heart] So grateful to have met the
best man in the world.]
Attached was a photo of a prenatal ultrasound and another of Scott’s unmistakable
silhouette, sitting with her in a hospital corridor.
The blurry image still burned into my eyes, making my stomach churn.
So much for “never touched her.” It was just another layer of lies and betrayal.
When my father found out, his rage nearly drove him to storm Collins Holdings himself.
I stopped him.
“Dad, don’t dirty your hands over trash like them. They’re not worth it. Heaven will take care of
them.”
Once the divorce was finalized, I brought back every cent of my money and investment that
had gone to the Collins family.
I returned to White Enterprises, parachuting in as acting CEO.
On my first day in office, I signed and released two industry-shaking announcements:
First: White Enterprises announced that, following the dissolution of Jessica White’s marriage to Scott Collins, all cooperation with Collins Holdings would cease immediately, and within one week, all joint funds and projects would be severed and withdrawn completely.
Second: White Enterprises was shifting its strategic focus, committing massive resources to the high-end Semiconductor R&D Center to develop an high-end, fully controlled
American-made chip.

Everyone knew this move was aimed directly at Scott-at the chip project he had just gotten off the ground and was betting his company’s future on.
It was a declaration of war.
Scott didn’t take long to reach out, his tone equal parts flustered bluster and faux authority.
Scott: [Jessica, is this really necessary? Do you want to burn it all down? My Semiconductor R&D Center is finally taking shape! As for the baby… that was an accident! If you’re willing to
come back, I can take care of it right now!
I stared at his message and typed a single word: [Get lost.]
Then I deleted him from every last contact channel he could possibly use to reach me.
