Chapter 6
In the days that followed, Ruby rarely appeared in front of us
anymore.
Harvey and I returned to our peaceful life, and our relationship grew increasingly stable.
However, I never expected that one day, Sofia would come storming over to see me.
She said, “Violet, let me tell you, Ruby is absolutely no good.”
Looking at Sofia’s face flushed red with anger, I patted my forehead.
I’d been so focused on nurturing my relationship with Harvey that I’d forgotten to check on Sofia’s situation.
Realizing this, I quickly made her a cup of coffee.
I kept trying to calm her down: “What happened? What did she do that was so outrageous to make you this angry?”
After I finished asking, Sofia, who was drinking her coffee, slammed the cup down hard on the table: “She’s just a cunning, scheming bitch.
“Recently, she’s been constantly showing up at my house with gifts, saying she wanted to thank me for the blood donation last

time. Of course, I was happy to accept them. After all, I did lose all that blood for nothing last time.”
Hearing this, I nodded. Given Sofia’s personality, it was normal for her to think this way.
Then she continued: “But I never expected that I still underestimated her. Right after I accepted her thank–you gifts, she ran to Jackson crying, saying I was taking advantage of the favor I’d done her to get benefits.
“Not only that, but I was clearly thinking that getting a bicycle for my birthday would be nice–it would make it easier for me to visit you—yet she went and told Jackson that I wanted a Santana car. She even said that if Jackson didn’t buy it for me, I would take our family savings and leave with another man.”
At this point, Sofia was so angry she was almost in tears.
Sure enough, Ruby was still the same as in my previous life, portraying Sofia as a money–grubbing person in front of
Jackson.
After all, Jackson was now the island’s biggest aquaculture owner. Honestly, buying the latest model Santana probably wouldn’t be a problem for him.
But I believed any man would find it unbearable if his woman threatened to leave with another man just because he didn’t buy her a car.

Not to mention that in my previous life, Ruby had even forged evidence of Sofia wanting to leave with another man.
Thinking of this, my expression grew cold: “After hearing what she said, what did Jackson think?”
Hearing my words, Sofia lifted her head and smiled like a victorious general.
She said, “What could he think? He can read my mind now, so of course he didn’t believe Ruby.
“You didn’t see how terrible Jackson’s expression was when she was making up lies about me. Finally, when she said I was already prepared to leave with another man and even produced letters as evidence, Jackson looked fierce enough to devour someone. He threw her out and said she was never allowed to set foot in our house again.
“Otherwise, I wouldn’t continue living with him.”
At this point, Sofia smiled sheepishly. Then she looked at me with confusion: “Violet, why do you think she does this?
“Why can’t she just live her own life peacefully instead of meddling in other people’s marriages?”
This question really stumped me.

Fortunately, Sofia didn’t expect an answer from me.

After Sofia had vented her anger, Jackson came to pick her up. Although Sofia was still angry, she went back with him anyway.
As she walked out, she kept muttering: “If you hadn’t attracted other women outside, why would I be suffering like this?”
Jackson could only gently coax her from the side.
Watching the two of them walk away, I glared at Harvey, who had just entered the house.
I said, “What are you looking at? Do you think you’re any better
than Jackson?”
Hearing my words, Harvey smiled ingratiatingly, then awkwardly touched his nose as he followed me inside.
But I never expected that just as we stepped through the door, we’d be interrupted by a sweet voice: “Harvey.”
