With tears in her eyes, Jocelynn collapsed onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep.

Charlotte had been absent–minded these past few days, sometimes frowning in thought, sometimes breaking into a silly smile for no reason.
She didn’t know how to tell her parents about what had happened between her and Gregory.
At dinner.
Charlotte had been eating the same plate of food for ages and still hadn’t
finished.
She really had no appetite today; nothing tasted good.
Kathy noticed and asked with concern, “Lottie, what have you been smiling about all this time?”
“Huh? Did I? I wasn’t smiling!” Charlotte forced a guilty smile and quickly put on a nonchalant expression.
“Lottie, are you hiding something from Mom? You’ve seemed distracted these past few days. Is there some good news?”

Kathy: “Then why have you been acting so strange lately?”
Charlotte evaded the question: “Mom, you’re overthinking it. I… I was just thinking about work.”
“Work? I heard Timothy started working at your company? Is that true?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
Upon hearing this, Kathy instinctively furrowed her brows. “Lottie, it’s not that I want to criticize you, but you really are too soft–hearted.”
“You and Timothy have already broken up, so you should keep your distance. Now you let him work at your company–what is that supposed to mean?”
Charlotte took a deep breath. “I didn’t let him in; he insisted on coming himself.”
Originally, after getting back her dowry and expenses, she had no intention of taking revenge on him anymore.
But if he insisted on coming to her, he had no one to blame but himself if she decided not to play fair.
Of course, she didn’t need to do anything now. All she had to do was ignore him, refuse to offer any financial or social support, and that alone would make things extremely difficult for him.
“Lottie, do you still have feelings for him? Are you thinking about getting back together someday?”

Kathy looked helpless. “Well, you’d better mean what you say. Don’t come crying to me later, begging to get back together with him.”
“Don’t worry, that will never happen.”
“Oh, by the way, Mom, I’m planning to move out. I’m looking for a place right now.”
‘Once I find a place, I’ll move out.”
Kathy looked puzzled when she heard this. “You’re living just fine at home, so why move out?”
“Uh, it’s just inconvenient for work and school. I’m planning to find a place downtown–it’s much more convenient there.”
“Home is too far from both the company and school. I waste a lot of time every day.”
It’s true–almost all of Freyburn’s most expensive mansions are on the hilltops or by the sea, which isn’t very convenient for getting to the city
center.
“I don’t feel comfortable with you living out there alone.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll hire a few maids and bodyguards. I’ll be careful about safety.”
“Uh…” Kathy looked hesitant.
“Don’t worry, Mom. I’m grown up now and can take care of myself. I’ll come back often to visit you when I have time off.”
