The car screeched to a halt.
Tires screeched on the pavement, emitting a harsh sound.
Julian stared at me, his gaze fixed.
“Say it again?”
“I have a boyfriend.”
My tone was as calm as if I were talking about the weather.
Thinking of Marcus, a smile involuntarily bloomed on my lips.
“We’ve been together for two years, and our relationship is very stable. I mainly came back this time to meet his parents.”
This wasn’t entirely true.
Marcus and I did have a stable relationship.
But meeting his parents was still too soon.
I said this just to completely extinguish any hope Julian might have.
Julian suddenly scoffed, raising his chin to look at me, his face bearing his usual
arrogance.
“Lily, you think I’ll believe that?”
“You loved me so much, how could you fall for someone else?”
His fingers tapped unconsciously on the steering wheel.

“Don’t think I don’t know. Back then, whenever I mentioned Victoria, you looked like your
heart was breaking.”
“Several times, I saw you secretly crying.”
He was so certain that I still loved him.
I fell silent.
So, Julian knew all along.
Seeing my silence, Julian assumed I was conceding.
His tone softened.
“Lily, please stop being angry with me, okay?”
“I know I was awful before. I… I know you’re very disappointed in me.”
“Four years ago, when you suddenly left, I realized how important you were to me.”
After that day, Julian started pestering me relentlessly.
His friends also came one after another, urging reconciliation.
They told me about Julian’s love and denial, about his regret after I left.
They also said that Chad, who spoke so carelessly at the welcome party, had been sent
out of the city.
They then spoke of Victoria.
Only then did I truly understand what had happened.
It turned out that after I left, Julian went crazy looking for me.
Victoria couldn’t stand being neglected and argued with Julian daily.

Over time, Julian grew tired of her.

Julian had always liked her because of the pure, untouchable image she projected.
Once Victoria started acting like an ordinary person, it was as if the moon had fallen into the dust.
His “white moonlight” was no longer his “white moonlight.”
Dylan also said:
“Victoria claimed she didn’t care about the Harrington family’s dirty money, but when asked to sign a prenup, she came up with all sorts of excuses.”
“And we also found out that during her years abroad, she was just messing around. Her degree was bought, she had no real skills…”
I didn’t respond to any of it.
That day, I saw Victoria at the hotel entrance.
Her eyes were bloodshot, and her gaze towards me was venomous, nothing like her
former self.
“I’ve been kicked out of the Harrington family. Are you very pleased now?”
I looked at the deranged Victoria before me, feeling nothing but annoyance.
I shook my head. “Victoria, your downfall today has never been because of me.”
Victoria reacted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
“It was you! You deliberately seduced Julian while I was abroad, making him completely obsessed!”
I took a step closer to her, meeting her gaze.
“Victoria, stop lying to yourself. Julian’s affection for you was never pure.”

“He loved the haughty, aloof image you pretended to be, never Victoria herself.”
Victoria froze, her face pale.
She knew the truth deep down, but she had always refused to admit it.
I walked around her, straight out of the hotel.
Behind me, Victoria’s anguished sobs echoed, but I didn’t look back.
Later, I heard Victoria still hadn’t given up.
She even threatened to jump from a building to force Julian to marry her.
Julian didn’t even show up.
In her emotional distress, Victoria accidentally fell.
Fortunately, a safety mat had already been placed below.
She didn’t die, but suffered a severe concussion.
And, unable to accept Julian’s rejection, she became mentally unstable.
Dad rushed back from abroad and took her away.
As she left, Victoria kept muttering, “I’m Mrs. Harrington, I’m the lady of the mansion,
I’m…”
