Chapter 12
Samuel
“There are faint traces. Some suspicious leads. Maybe rogue. Maybe not. But my team is already on it,” I lied without blinking.
Liora stared at me intently. For a long time. As if trying to read something from my face.
I had been wearing this mask for too long, but she didn’t suspect a thing. And that was exactly what I wanted.
“Then I hope you get ‘results’ before our entire reputation is ruined,” she said coldly. She turne away without waiting for a response.
I held my breath. But I said nothing.
As her footsteps faded and the door closed again, I leaned back into my chair.
The atmosphere grew empty once more. But my mind was busier than ever.
Liora was right… I wasn’t thinking about my own problems. Even as destruction loomed befor
The only thing filling my mind was one name:
Helena.
And this lie-hiding my search for her from everyone, even from Liora-felt more and more like icking time bomb.
But I didn’t care.
Helena must be found. And I will be the first to see her face when she finally reappears.
Suddenly I want to see her broken. Begging. Or even more than that. For example, returning t ny side as a servant.
t’s been a week since I sent out the best bounty hunters from north to south, explored rogu erritories, even paid a blind sorcerer to read the tracks from the air.
n the human world, I might have spent the family fortune. In our world-I traded three moonstone chests, two blood contracts, and one rare artifact for one thing: finding Helena.
But none of them succeeded. All the trails ended in dead ends. They only brought back reports of false fog, faint smells that vanished, and footsteps that couldn’t be confirmed.
I cursed in my room, throwing documents onto the floor.
“This is strange. She’s just a weak omega; why can’t they find her!” I growled. “Helena, how dare you disappear like this.”
As my head was filled with confusion and questions, another voice was heard.
“What did you say?”
My body tensed.
Elira the Elder-my mother.
She stood at the doorway. Her face was calm, but her gaze was piercing.
“Are you looking for Helena?” she asked, her tone flat but judgmental.
I took a breath. “I’m looking for her to kill her, Mother. She’s the source of everything. If she hadn’t betrayed us by going to the border that night… none of this would have happened.”
Her eyes narrowed. “You’re strange. Instead of searching for the attacker, you’re looking for an omega. As if all of this is just about her.”
I opened my mouth, then closed it again.
“You… are still thinking about her, aren’t you?” she asked, almost whispering.
I shook my head quickly. “No! She’s a traitor.”
‘Remember, you already have Liora. She’s better than Helena. Much better.”
bowed my head. “Maybe you’re right, Mother. So what should I do now?”
I’ve worked hard all this time. I persuaded the angry Silver Moon elders. They said you might still be chosen as Alpha, but you have to do something.”
Something inside me felt like it had found light. I felt alive again. I still had a chance? Mother vas so smart!
What should I do?” I asked enthusiastically.
Restore the trust of the other packs.” My mother smiled gently. “I know it’s not easy. But what’s he harm in trying? You might still be able to fix everything. The elders said that if the Silver Moon’s name is cleared, you can be reinstated as Alpha.”
Mother was right. Nothing was easy. But the other wolf side of me didn’t want to give up. I would
I agree, Mother. Thank you so much!” I pulled her into a hug.
he gently stroked my shoulder and whispered, “Trust me, I only want what’s best for you.”
I promise I won’t let you down.”
My mother released the hug. Her gentle gaze had ended. “So I hope you stop searching for Helena. It doesn’t help our survival as wolves at all.”
My mother stared at me for a long time, then turned away without saying another word.
That night, my door was roughly opened.
.iora came in with a furious expression.
So you’ve been secretly searching for Helena?” she asked sharply. “Your mother told me everything! You’re crazy-why would you still choose a traitor like her?”
‘I was just-”
‘If you still want her, even just in your mind, I’ll walk away. Don’t think I want to be the shadow of a woman who’s long gone!”
I stared at her, and for the first time, I was speechless.
I stood up and turned to look out the window. The moon peeking through the clouds.
“All right,” I murmured softly. “I’ll stop looking for Helena. I don’t care about her destruction anymore.”
Liora seemed satisfied with that answer. She leaned in with her usual sweet expression. “Honey,”
she said, her voice soft.
I looked up as she sat on my lap.
“Your mother said you still have a chance to become Alpha. Please, fix everything for me, okay?” she pleaded.
I nodded. I kissed her lips gently. “All right, dear.”
“Oh, and your mother said the first step is to approach the large Ironshade pack,” Liora saic enthusiastically. “There’s going to be a big party hosted by Ironshade tomorrow. And the good
news? We’re invited!”
It felt unreal. As if I’d been given another chance.
“You’re right, Liora. We’ll start with Ironshade first!”
Helena
