Chapter 111 She Said Yes Without Hesitation
Giovani turned around slowly, his gentle gaze landing on Camila. The amber glow of the bedside lamp highlighted the sharp contours of his jawline, and his Adam’s apple moved slightly as he murmured, “Good night.”
Camila’s body trembled faintly under the soft down comforter, her cheeks blooming with a translucent blush in the warm light. Her fingers gripped the edge of the blanket tightly, her gaze clinging to Giovani’s retreating back.
“Mr. Campbell,” she suddenly called out.
Giovani paused and turned back. The shadows at the doorway split his face in half. The slightly undone collar revealed a glimpse of his collarbone, gleaming faintly in the dim light. “What’s up?” he asked.
The faint scent in the air seemed to freeze. Camila looked at him, her heart stirring as she found herself captivated by his elegance and charm. After a moment’s hesitation, she asked, “Why are you so kind to me?”
This question had been circling in her mind for a long time, and she finally couldn’t hold it back any longer.
Giovani was momentarily stunned, but then a faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips. He walked back to the bed and sat down beside her. The slight dip in the mattress made Camila hold her breath.
He parted his lips slightly and said, “Parce que je veux t’épouser.”
His voice was deep and smooth, like a melody that lingered in the air. Camila’s eyes widened sharply, her vision fixed on his lips, which shimmered with a rosy glow under the warm light.
She swallowed bitterly–she couldn’t read what he had said. Still, she forced a soft smile, determined not to let her secret show.
Giovani didn’t miss the fleeting stiffness in her face. His gaze lingered on her trembling lashes as a soft chuckle escaped his throat. “Will you?” he asked.
This time, she understood him. But as for his previous words, she had no idea. She figured her lip–reading skills still needed improvement.
‘Fortunately, Mr. Campbell hasn’t discovered my hearing loss. I’ve already been enough of a burden to him and Lindsey. I really don’t want them to worry about me any further, she thought.
Even though Camila didn’t know exactly what Giovani had said, she believed he would never hurt her. Without hesitation, she smiled brightly and said, “Yes.”
Thunder cracked outside the floor–to–ceiling window, and a flash of lightning illuminated the storm brewing in Giovani’s eyes. ‘How could she trust me so easily? She’s as pure and sweet as a little bunny,‘ he thought.
Earlier, he had said, “Because I want to marry you.” Whether or not she fully understood, she had agreed, and that alone meant the proposal was a success. The thought lifted Giovani’s mood considerably.
He turned off the lights for Camila, leaving the room in a warm, comforting darkness. Then he headed downstairs, and just as he stepped into the living room, three pairs of eyes immediately locked onto him, brimming with curiosity.
Lindsey’s grin stretched wide as she asked, “Where’s Camila?”
“She’s gone to bed,” Giovani replied.
Lindsey leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “What were you two doing in there?”
“Nothing much,” Giovani said, his expression as composed as ever. “I proposed, and she accepted.”
“What?” Lindsey’s jaw dropped. The news hit her like a bolt of lightning, leaving her momentarily stunned. “How did you propose?”
“I just asked if she wanted to marry me, and she said yes,” Giovani answered, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Lindsey was at a loss for words. Keira and Hazel exchanged glances, equally shocked.
‘Wait, no flowers, no ring, no big romantic moment–Giovani just asked, and Camila said yes?‘ they thought.
Hazel’s eyes welled up with tears. She knew Camila had endured so much pain and was desperately craving love. That was why, when she met the Campbell family–such good people–she didn’t hesitate for a moment to accept the seemingly modest proposal.
Still, Hazel couldn’t help but feel a surge of happiness for her. At long last, Camila had found someone who would cherish her.
Lindsey, however, had other thoughts. She had already considered Camila as Giovani’s wife, and something as important as a proposal deserved more effort.
She shot Giovani a sharp look, silently thinking, ‘Only someone as sweet and easygoing as Camila would agree to such a bare–bones proposal. Any other woman would have sent him packing.‘

Giovani crossed his long legs elegantly as he settled into the sofa, his deep voice breaking the silence it’s late You should all head to bed

Michael frowned and said, “Enough, Harry Yelling won’t solve anything. Let’s head back
Harry acted like he didn’t hear a thing, his eyes fived on Carrilla’s room.
Camila wasn’t asleep. Her sharp intuition quickly picked up on something off about Giovant’s behavior earlier
She got out of bed, walked to the window, and pulled the curtain aside just enough to see outside Immediately she spotted Harry and Michael at the gate
Harry was pacing around like a madman, his face twisted with fury and desperation
Camila looked at him, her gaze icy. She knew exactly why he was here–it was all for Agnes.
He looked so angry. Worried about Agnes suffering in prison, huh? Camila thought. A mocking smile tugged at her lips, cold and distant
Suddenly, the rain started pouring down, turning the courtyard’s wrought–iron lamps into hazy orbs of light. Harry’s twisted expression flickered menacingly in the lightning flashes.
As Giovani stepped into the rain, water streamed down his black shirt, tracing the contours of his muscular frame
The moment Harry saw Giovani, his rage exploded as if facing a mortal enemy. “You bastard! How dare you come out herst Give Camila back to me!” he roared.
Like a maddened bull, Harry charged recklessly, throwing a punch straight at Giovani.
Giovani raised his arm to block, the motion tearing his soaked shirt and revealing the taut veins on his forearm.
Camila’s heart clenched, and she gripped the edge of the curtain tightly.
With a sharp spin and a powerful kick, Giovani sent Harry flying, his body crashing heavily to the ground. “You’re not worthy of being her brother,” Giovani said, his icy gaze boring into Harry.
Harry gritted his teeth and forced himself up despite the pain, his face contorted with fury. “I’m not worthy? And you are? “Knowing her fragile condition, you still indulge in your lust with her. You don’t care about her at all. You’re just as heartless as the rumors say.”
Rain streamed down Giovani’s face, soaking his clothes and outlining his muscular frame. His usually stern face now looked even more striking, enhanced by the glistening raindrops.
“Camila is deaf, crippled, and has lost a kidney. Tell me, Harry, who’s the real monster here?” Giovani asked, casting a cold glare at Harry before walking back into the villa.
Harry collapsed on the ground, staring in disbelief at Giovani’s back. His eyes were wide with shock and terror as he shouted in a trembling voice, “Stop! Deaf? What do you mean by that?”
Harry’s voice trembled, his eyes wide with fear.
‘No, this can’t be happening.‘ Harry’s thoughts spiraled in denial, but Giovani’s cold words hit him like a sledgehammer shattering his defenses.
‘Camila’s hearing is damaged too. No wonder she didn’t react to my shouting earlier–she couldn’t hear me at all, Harry thought. He broke down, his tears mingling with the rain.
He staggered to his feet, barely able to stand. When Michael tried to steady him, Harry shoved him away.
Harry looked up at the second floor, his face deathly pale. His lips quivered as he called out, “Camila, I’m sorry. I never wanted this to happen.”
