His body stiffened.
I drowsily adjusted my position, moving my hand up to wrap around his neck. Perhaps some subconscious alertness from the dream made me uneasy—my body twisted slightly, breathing rapid, forehead against his Adam’s apple, each breath falling on his skin.
Garrett Wylder turned his head away, as if deliberately avoiding some reaction.
After a long while, he pulled down my hand and gently pushed my head away from his neck.
The car arrived at the hospital entrance.
Third Person POV:
“Alpha, are you… feeling hot?” Jack noticed his flushed face.
Garrett Wylder glanced at him, saying coldly: “You talk too much.”
With that, he carried her out of the car and strode quickly into the hospital.
They chose the Wylder family’s hospital. They’d called ahead, so the medical staff was already prepared. As soon as Garrett Wylder entered, nurses
took her.
Elara’s POV:
Late at night, 12:30 AM.
I woke from the haze.
As soon as I moved, my first reaction was to check myself. Confirming I hadn’t suffered actual assault, I truly relaxed.
Then I saw that familiar yet strange face-
Garrett Wylder sat in a chair, calm as a stone statue.
“Garrett…” I spoke with difficulty, my voice terribly hoarse.
A phone rang.
He picked up the phone from the table for me: “It’s your mother.”
I immediately widened my eyes, frantically gesturing for him not to tell her.
He looked at me but ultimately answered: “Hello.”
Hearing a man’s voice, my mother immediately raised her tone: “Who are you?!”
“I’m Elara’s friend. She’s currently… in the hospital.”
I was going crazy.
Didn’t I tell him not to tell her?!
Exclamations came from the other end. I could imagine my parents panicking.
Garrett Wylder hung up and looked at me: “At this hour, with me holding your phone and them so worried, I couldn’t very well say you were drunk, could I? That would cause even more problems.”
I opened my mouth to argue but ultimately deflated.

Chapter 33
He was right.
I cleared my throat, my voice still rough: “Then could you have the doctor tell my parents if was a minor car accident? Don’t tell thera the trans the really can’t handle this kind of shock.”
“Actually…” Garrett Wylder’s tone was light, “there’s nothing too terrible to report. Those men weren’t able to cause you substantial harin
His words were very restrained.
But I knew this was just his gentleness toward me.
If he hadn’t arrived in time… I would have been ruined.
After a few seconds of silence, he nodded, then asked: “Do you know who did this
this?”
I closed my eyes, my hands slowly clenching the sheets on both sides.
“I know.”
