Chapter 57
Amelia wasn’t as drunk as yesterday tonight. She trotted over to his side in small steps, tugging at his arm: “Want to come to my place? I have won a
like.”
“No.”
Garrett Wylder refused decisively.
There was an uneven spot in the hallway carpet, and he stumbled when passing over it.
I was about to step forward to support him, Clay also moved, but Amelia had already rushed ahead of us, opening her arms in a “hero saves the beauty” pose.
Just as he was about to fall into her embrace, he suddenly yanked backward-
“Ah!” I was suddenly pulled forward, my whole body flying out, landing with a thud directly into Amelia’s arms!
We almost kissed.
Me: “…”
Is this something a human being would do?
Amelia was obviously furious too.
She stormed off angrily, leaving the restaurant with a huff.
How could I be as carefree as her?
Less than three days into this job, I didn’t dare throw a tantrum, I could only endure it.
After getting in the car, I felt my knee hurt a bit.
Looking down, I saw my knee was bruised purple–blue, with faint spots of dried blood. I must have knocked it against his hard kneecap earlier.
Garrett Wylder sat beside me, one hand supporting his forehead, leaning against the seat back with his eyes closed, his face serene.
He was truly drunk.
When we reached the hotel, I called his name several times with no response. Clay had to call a male attendant to help carry him to his room.
Clay came out of the bedroom and saw the injury on my leg, asking: “Is your knee okay? Do you need to ice it?”
I glanced at him, sighed inwardly, and said: “I’ll ice it in my room.‘
“Alright, go ahead. I’ll stay and take care of him.”
I nodded, but turned back at the door: “Tomorrow you accompany the Alpha to the exhibition. I won’t come by in the morning. The factory is in western Jurong Island, quite far, so I’ll leave early and return early.”
“Okay, call if anything comes up.“/
I hummed in agreement and left.
Back in my room, I took a shower, put on pajamas, and sat in the lounge chair, icing my knee.
The moment the ice touched it, I gasped from the pain.
But the more liced it, the more I wanted to laugh.
Chapter 57
So frustrating yet amusing.
Although this trip was for work, it was actually like giving myself a vacation after the divorce.
Honestly, it was much more interesting than running off to Iceland alone to experience “lonely freedom.”
With all the hustle and bustle, I didn’t have time to think about New York.
…I wonder how things are in New York now.
Third Person Perspective:
At the same time, in New York.
Alice had arranged to meet Rowan at her law firm.
Outside the window, the night was pitch black. New York had been raining all day, with temperatures dropping sharply. Dark clouds covered the sky. shrouding the entire city in gray defeat.
Rowan wore a dark gray suit, his hair perfectly styled, cleanly shaven, with handsome features and a cold aura. He sat on the sofa with his long legs crossed, his entire being enveloped in a depressive, somber atmosphere.
He was still that noble, arrogant young master.
As if the nearly mad, disheveled, choking man from yesterday wasn’t him at all.
“I thought you’d be sad for a few more days, keep up the act a bit longer.”
Alice’s tone was full of sarcasm, “But this is good too. Getting clearheaded early, finishing the necessary procedures early–that’s fine.”
She pushed the divorce agreement in front of him.
Rowan picked up the document with a normal expression, flipped to the last page, his gaze falling on that familiar signature–his own handwriting, signed without hesitation.
The date was the day he returned from his business trip to Switzerland.
He signed quickly, she watched quietly.
So it was decided then.
Alice said slowly, “When Elara returns, you two can get the divorce certificate, and this marriage will be completely over.”
Author’s Note: Do you think he will sign? I guess he won’t, because he’s about to go find Elara…
